To know, for sure, that not one poster on MN can genuinely say the London Olympic mascots are appealing.

If the organisers wanted them to be appealing, maybe making them look <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=london+2012+olympic+mascots&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1146&bih=706&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=D1IUl_CWhpZsxM:&imgrefurl=www.fastcompany.com/node/1649968/&docid=2z1XVY8c4kngPM&imgurl=images.fastcompany.com/upload/london-mascots.jpg&w=620&h=397&ei=wWacT6_AKtPY0QXj0-DuDg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=525&vpy=163&dur=666&hovh=180&hovw=281&tx=153&ty=127&sig=112379514407926695039&page=1&tbnh=123&tbnw=192&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0,i:71" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">unappealing and a bit sinister wasn't the way to go?

How much do you think was shelled out on the twonks team who designed them?

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 28/04/2012 23:08

YANBU, they are very scary looking. And I really wanted to like them.

LittleBoxes · 28/04/2012 23:09

I actually know the bloke that designed them. And I think they're great. These two facts may be connected.

WorraLiberty · 28/04/2012 23:09

YANBU

If they'd run a kids competition I'm sure they would have come up with far superior ones.

LittleBoxes · 28/04/2012 23:09

WHO designed them, even.

WorraLiberty · 28/04/2012 23:09

Actually, if they'd asked a bunch of drunks to design them they'd come up with far superior ones....

PoppyWearer · 28/04/2012 23:10

3.9 yo DD likes the "funny aliens". Am saying nothing. The names are good though, if you read up on why they are so named.

xxmush1983xx · 28/04/2012 23:10

I was looking at them in the shop today and mulling over how scared a small child would be by one!

fluffypillow · 28/04/2012 23:11

YANBU They are horrible. I have no wish to own any olympic merchandise although my kids will make me spend a fortune on those stupid little creatures

Kayano · 28/04/2012 23:11

gets on soapbox

I REALLY LIKE THEM

gets off and scuttles away

WorraLiberty · 28/04/2012 23:12

They look like a rip off of those Go-Go's the kids used to buy and collect

LittleTyga · 28/04/2012 23:12

They remind me of that character in Futurama!

scrappydappydoo · 28/04/2012 23:13

I was trying to explain the concept of the mascots to dd1 aged 6 - she just kept saying 'but WHY Mummy?' I couldn't answer..
There was a truely appalling cinema ad/mini film which managed to be pointless and worthy at the same time.
And what is with the names??

difficultpickle · 28/04/2012 23:13

Ds (7) loves them but then he likes Club Penguin puffles too

AgentZigzag · 28/04/2012 23:13

D'y'know Outraged, now you've said that I've realised I wanted to like them too Sad

We've been had.

Done up like a kipper on a wet weekend.

They are shit. I still have a Cobi toy from the Barcelona Olympics but won't be buying one of these.
Sweets are nice though.

IneedAbetterNicknameIn2012 · 28/04/2012 23:27

I like them! And DS2 (5.6) is saving all his money for a £35 cuddly Wenlock! ( I Have tried to convince him a small one would be better but he is as yet, unconvnced!)

mrspnut · 28/04/2012 23:31

My dd2 loves them and can name both of them easily. She's 5, nearly 6, and is really excited by the prospect of the games.

lolajane2009 · 28/04/2012 23:36

i dont like them but then again i have no interest in the games eiher

Good job you get two eh?

£35 Nickname? Shock

betterwhenthesunshines · 28/04/2012 23:39

My DS bought one the other day with his saved money. I was a bit Shock but there you go. Why only one eye?!?

DeadRisingPies · 28/04/2012 23:51

They look like scary Cyclops monsters to me. But maybe kids like that sort of thing...

Mmmm, yes, I saw the alcohol addled harpy Kayano too Mary.

It's people like that who I reserve my most judgemental catsbum mouth for.
