To be cross with Car Phone Warehouse?

DH and were due to upgrade our mobile phones and went together to Car Phone Warehouse in the Easter school holidays.
We were so pleased that we left the DCs at home as it seemed to take forever!
I was more patient than usual as we were both on Annual leave and didn't have DS, who has AS, with us.

I've just opened my mail and there is an £80 parking charge for being 1 hr 53mins on the privately-owned car park when the limit is 1hr.Angry
I know Car Phone Warehouse don't own the car park, but couldn't they have warned me that their slow service may lead to my having overstayed my welcome in the care park? Hmm

You're obviously not going to pay it. Are you?

Did you not get a ticket on the car?

Carphone warehouse are really slow but it's not really their fault you got a ticket!

SauvignonBlanche · 27/04/2012 13:42

No ticket on the car but a letter with photos of my car.
We parked right outside CarPhone Warehouse, the car park serves them and the 2 other shops.
I didn't open the first letter, so opened it along with the reminder today.
If I pay by Sunday it's only £50.

If it's a privately owned car park, afaik, you don't have to pay and they have no legal hold over you.

Thanks Dawn, I'll have a look at that.
The assistant and manager were very nice and apologised several times for the delay. I think they might have asked if I was parked outside, I'd no idea there were any restrictions.

Dawndonna's links are good - do not pay it. Unless it is from the council, in which case you should appeal/pay up.

I had one a while ago. Do not reply to it, do not acknowledge it. They will send more letters then eventually give up.

Update - IWBVVU
DH phoned CarPhone Warehouse who said they'd sort it out, they've just e-mailed him to say that they have done so. Grin

Thanks for all above advice, I might have paid it in order to get a 'discount' if I hadn't read the above. Grin
