AIBU to think I am owed well over a 1000 hugs/snuggles by now....

My baby never hugs/snuggles me! As a mother I am ENTITLED to hugs, at least 4-5 a day by my reckoning. But does she deliver? No she does not! Which means (given she is 11 mo) that I am now owed over 1000 hugs/snuggles. Does anyone know of a good hug recovery firm?

She will hug her dad, her toys and other babies but never me. I have had more hugs from other peoples babies than my own.

I thought she was hugging my leg last night, but no, she was a) using me as a climbing frame and b) wiping her nose on my trousers.

I have resorted to giving her a toy to snuggle and then trying to get in on the act before she realises....this is usually only partially successful and, at the end of the day, we all know a stolen hug is not a satisfying hug....

Wait till she's sleeping, then give her a good squeeze.

an wake her up? No chance.....she is the lightest of sleepers...

That nose wipe on your trousers? Thats a hug that is. I get several of those a day, yesterday it was accompanied by mashed banana which I only realised as I went into the library with a creamy yellow smear right at by my crotch

it's wrong isn't it, to be grateful for physical contact even when it is a pear ladened slap round the face?

man...I only even scored one virtual MN hug....I must just be totally unhuggable!

(((((((((hugs))))))))) I get most when she is sick, tired or teething otherwise I am just a means to reach something dangerous. I get more than DH though who gets shoved if he tries it. I can recommend sneaking up behind her and sniffing her hair pathetic.

ohhh that is so familiar...when she is ill is when she really really needs her daddy rather than me...

I feel so pathetic trailing after her in the hopes she will fall over and need a cuddle.....

DS hugged me last saturday then vomited all over me. I can't tell whether I liked it or not. It was warm at least.

I like to pretend it is because I raised an independent, securely attached child

euuwww.....and yet I miss the odd vom spot on my shoulder from the days (first 4 weeks) when my DD would let me hold her to burp....

If the situation doesn't change then keep a tally and present her with the bill on her 16th birthday.

hmmm it could be a solid months worth of hug by then.....especially if I start charging interest...

DD is 2.3 now, and has only just discovered hugs. Bum hugs and knee hugs are her faves.

She does it just because she feels like it, without using it as a pretext to ask for 'tot-lit' (chocolate) or to be lifted up to get something forbiddan.

Not sure as of yet if she's being affectionate, or if she's playing a long-con.

Baby Goo is too busy for hugs.

And when she's sleepy she just wants her cot.

If she hurts herself I can get one, briefly.

If I try to carry her anywhere she is just furious that I'm not letting her walk.

Putting her shoes on and off I can sometimes sneak one.

My DS is very long suffering when it comes to hugs. He is 2.11. He went through a stage of giving huge enthusiastic hugs but then stopped.

Now I just run after him shouting 'the huggy monsters coming! What does it want?!' To which he reluctantly mumbles, 'huggles.'

I do think he may require some sort of therapy later I life.

I am still Bfing and you would think that would count as affectionate physical contact...but somehow DD manages to turn it into more of wrestling match and always leaves me with the impression that I am seriously blowing her schedule with all this waste of time feeding...

She hasn't mastered the art of patronising sighing yet but she may as well have...

Ha! DS perfected the art of the 4 minute breastfeed at one point! Far too much going on to waste time there! Now he feeds for half an hour and is so clingy I've caught up on my hugs quota and more.

Still get banana-ey snot-wipes though.
