To feel pissed off that nobody else's skirts look as unironed as mine do

I don't know if it's me having a fed up day or what but I'm fed up of trying to look smart and the moment I put my skirt on and wear it for a few minutes than it's just as wrinkled as it was before I ironed it. Does anybody else have this problem with straight skirts or is it just me?

YABU. Straight skirts get creased, everybody's does

This problem does seem incredibly frustrating. What I would suggest is that you wash and carefully iron your skirt in order to get the desired look and then very delicately put it on a hanger in order to presere that ?just ironed? look.

Although I say a hanger, ideally nothing at all would come into contact with the skirt and the best way to store in would be to have a stream of cool air blowing upwards that you could place the skirt on and for it to remain suspended, safe in the rising air, perfectly preserving it?s pristine appearance. As I can appreciate this may not be particularly easy for you to do which is why I have suggested the hanger as an alternative, although don?t be too quick to write of the air stream idea. Street vents and air conditioning units outside large building may be good places to look for a suitably powerful stream of air upon which your skirt can be stored.

OK, so that is step 1 complete and you now have you perfectly ironed skirt ready to wear, we are now ready to move onto stage 2; wearing the skirt. Take the skirt from where you left it (hanger/airsteam see part 1) and put it on as you would normally taking special care no to put unnecessary pressure on any part of the material. Once this is done look at yourself in a mirror. Is this the look you wanted? Would you be happy looking like this all day? Of course you would, if you have followed my instructions thus far you will be looking great. Now time to leave the house, be sure nothing puts any pressure onto the fabric of your skirt. This will probably mean you should not embrace anyone before leaving (children, partner, dogs etc) but I?m sure you?ll agree that is a small price to pay for looking sharp.

Unfortunately at this point your means of transportation are fairly limited. Cars are obviously out as sitting down will put creases into your skirt and ruin your hard work that has got the skirt looking so good. Buses and trains are an obvious alternative as it is possible to stand on them but given the overcrowding that can occur this has to be ruled out too, the last thing we want is a stranger leaning on your skirt and introducing creases. Bikes are a big no-no. Walking can just about be tolerated as long as you take small steps so as your stride does not fully extend the skirt fabric which may cause creasing. It may help with this to wear a mini-skirt under your outer skirt so your stride is limited and you can retain a crease free look on your outer skirt.
The form of transport that is most appropriate is a segway that can be ridden standing up. A second hand machine in good working order can be picked up for around five thousand pounds. Riding this means nothing will come into contact with your skirt and the look that we have worked so hard to achieve can be maintained.

Once you venture outdoors it is normal for strangers to come up to you and comment on the stunning condition of you outfit. Do not be alarmed but do not encourage it either. Having people nearby means more potential for them touching your skirt either accidentally or to marvel at the incredibly smooth material.

Back to travelling. Carefully dismount once you have reached your destination (e.g. place of work) and enter. Do a lap to ensure that as many people as possible can see you and your perfect appearance. Some more don?ts I am afraid. Don?t sit down at any point. Don?t lean on anything. Don?t eat anything that could be spilt on the skirt. Don?t go outside if the elements might interfere with your pristine look. This may seem like a lot of hard work and in many ways it is but remember that once you get home you can sit down and crease your outfit to your heart?s content.

These few simple steps with iron out your creases and have you looking sharp and soon you?ll be the envy of friends and family alike.

Good luck I hope it all goes smoothly.
