we've been aware of problems with our post for a while now - stuff taking much longer than usual to get here, but this is beyond a joke.

we've had no post of any description for a week now. not even junk mail. highly unusual for us, believe me. a number of things that we know have been sent weeks ago have failed to turn up, including something i bought off ebay (seller has proof of postage), my re-registration certificate for work (if i dont have this technically i'm breaking the law doing my job), several bank statements, cake samples from our wedding cake maker, a copy of the book of remembrance entry for our baby boy who we lost 6 months ago (he was stillborn :( ). that last one has really upset me.

to top it all off, we've had post come through for someone living at same house number but different street several times. each time i give it back to postman and tell him its not ours. have just found our where this street is so will knock on tomoro n ask if they got our stuff.

rang post office yesterday, and they say allow 3 weeks for stuff to turn up. we have. then they tell me we have to get the senders to fill in forms stating when they sent the stuff. well thats all good for those people we know sent things but how the friggin hell do we get people to fill in forms if we dont know who has sent stuff COS WE HAVENT RECEIVED IT?????? then she says, well it is a new estate (been here 3 yr, not that new). i'm sorry, but if the pizza delivery man can find us no problem, why the frigg does the post office seem to have bother??

is it me or are they totally shit?

They are totally shit!
And I'm so sorry about your son :(

DogEared · 26/04/2012 21:21

That is shit.
We had a dodgy postman who couldn't be arsed to deliver and they found his garage full of mail. Shock He didn't open anything, not even packages.

I'm really sorry about your little boy. Hope you're okay.

I am sorry to hear about your terrible loss, can I just ask if you rang Royal Mail or Post Office?
I ask because the Post Office can only tell you what Royal Mail ask them to (separate companies).
You are better off trying your local Sorting office in case they are aware of any local disruption.
Hope you get something sorted soon.

Me too Hurdy, we have such trouble trying to explain to upset customers which makes us feel shit for not being able to help.

ipswichwitch · 26/04/2012 22:54

Thank you folks. Will try sorting office next, I know PO people are for most part tryin to do good job in the face of irate people like me. Just bloody sick n tired of yet more problems.
Another letter that went AWOL was to do with tests for our sons twin bro who thankfully survived. Should have got it 2 weeks ago and basically gave us all clear. We found out today when we took him to hospital for follow up appt. if we got our post that would have saved us 2 weeks of worry.

The alternative?

FedEx? Yodell? DHL?

Nothing?
