to think I'm still a customer whether I've got a voucher or not!

Online voucher grumble :)

Booked two valets with an online voucher company, one for me, one for dh. Been trying to book mine for a week as bloke never has his diary on him when i ring. Bloke says he'll turn up today at some point. I said mn style 'that's not going to work for me, I need a time as I have things to do'. He therefore agreed to come between 9 and 10 and said it would take about an hour. I explained I have to be somewhere at 10.30. So although it is now 9.55 he could still turn up 'on time' but won't have time to do my car.

I'd like to think he doesn't treat all his customers like this as he wouldn't have a business and I know I got a big discount by buying an online voucher. But it's not like someone made him advertise his business through vouchers is it if he really doesn't want the work generated through them.

I've left a message saying he can come this afternoon and I won't make any plans so we can be in to fit into his schedule. I am irrationally annoyed by it all!

It sounds like he's rushed off his feet so his voucher scheme is obviously working.

That's the thing when you advertise, you never know exactly how many people will take up the offer.

I'm not sure it's anything to do with the discount unless he actually said so?

Still a pain in the arse for you though.

handbagCrab · 26/04/2012 10:13

True, I just can't imagine someone paying £50 for a valet or any similar service and being expected to wait in all day for it.

Ah well, you live and learn. I've seen the van on my street regularly which is why I booked him because I was hoping if it was good I could get my skanky car cleaned regularly by them. Maybe I should say that if he ever turns up...

Hmm. I wouldn't have agreed to the time (sometime between 9 and 10) when I knew that I had to be somewhere by 10.30 and it would take an hour tbh.

SpottedGurnard · 26/04/2012 11:38

I've stopped using groupon because I was fed up of being treated like crap by companies. The ironic thing is that these companies obviously want to increase their customer base whereas every place I have been to I have left unhappy and actively telling my friends to avoid the place.

CrispyCod · 26/04/2012 11:43

The business can determine how many vouchers are sold so he should have taken this into account when launching the promotion.

peugotgringo · 26/04/2012 12:00

All he has to do is be honest, and have his diary with him!

Nothing wrong in saying to either old or new customers - Sorry for not being able to fit you in just yet, I've been really busy and rushed off my feet. The recent advertising I've done has really taken off!

handbagCrab · 26/04/2012 12:50

Agree ladidadi but he said the only time he could guarantee was his first appointment around 9am ish. So I didn't have much choice really.

And I agree with you spottedgurnard too. I've just had to ring up about a canvas ordered with a voucher nearly three months ago that is only being printed because I rang up as they have been inundated apparently. It's not a good advert for businesses if they can't do the offers I think. And i feel like they act as if they are doing you a colossal favour by deigning to have anything to do with you and your groupon voucher.

Well me and Ds are back from nursery settling in so now we can sit in and wait for this guy to not turn up :)

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for your voucher for a full valet?

handbagCrab · 26/04/2012 13:24

£22 Blush

I pay £16 outside my local grocery store for a full valet. They clean the car while I go for coffee and get my groceries.

£22 is not cheap!

handbagCrab · 26/04/2012 14:33

quint I'm doubly Blush now! I am not the savvy consumer I thought I was being! :)

If he does not show up, I would forget him and insist the voucher company refund you
