here that Madeleine could still be alive. I have always thought the worse but this being bought up again now seems to be quite out of the blue and i can't help but hope.

I know its bad form, but i just wanted to share the glimmer

The Express article does not allow comments - odd because their other stories can be commented on 'Have Your Say'.

noddyholder · 29/04/2012 16:43

I only saw it in the shop this am so not sure about comments. I think The express were sued heavily so not surprised!

cornflowers · 29/04/2012 16:45

I assume they don't allow comments because editing out those with litigious content would prove too time consuming.

pumpkinsweetie · 29/04/2012 16:46

No wonder comments cant be made, everyone would be sued including the newspaper.
Odd though that this was the only article you cant comment on Hmm

I expect that is to stop people from writing inaccurate 'theories' and accusations MrsGuy.

But they are all theories, its just that some paint the mccanns in a bad light.

Surely if there is a desire find Madeleine, which there obviously is - it would be better to allow free comment in the hope that it someone, somewhere who might provide the key clue(s) to solving the mystery? Surely nothing can be more painful to the family than the loss of their daughter, and any detrimental theorising totally insignificant if it leads to her being found?

cornflowers · 30/04/2012 10:49

Sadly, I really don't think this case will ever be solved.

theorising totally insignificant if it leads to her being found?" I think the problem with that though is that as well as the potential for someone remembering what happened, or even someone confessing to what happened (as often does happen years after an event) you also get the attention seeking nutters that crawl out of the woodwork wanting their five minutes of fame, and confessing to, or claiming to have info on what really happened. I read somewhere that in the immediate aftermath there were literally thousands of calls from people saying they knew where she was/had taken her/people making ransom demands. And then there were the ramblings of erm, Brian the psychic and various others claiming they knew where she was (and the associated bandwagon jumpers calling the police with information they had read from all these nutters on the internet).

I do actually think that stifling debate stifles discussion altogether. Because the theorisers aren't suddenly going to start talking positively just because they've been told not to talk negatively, instead they'll keep their discussion to closed groups or themselves, and the more you stop people saying, the less they will say.

I seriously doubt that anyone really thinks that she will be found, or that any normal person is still looking out for her, regardless of what the campaign says.
