To just wish that one day, it would all come to an end?

All the washing, the dirty pots, the housework. Why does it never end? You finish it all, then it all needs doing again! What's the bloody point?

I just want it all to be done and that's that.

Is it really that unreasonable? My house seems to think so :(

I could have written this myself, arghhhh why does it not look any different the next day after I spend hours cleaning. why is the wash basket full after I have just done two loads, same with the bloody ironong and why am I the only one who actually seems to notice and care.... lesson here I think.... stop bloody doing it. Grin

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 25/04/2012 10:57

gobblegobs · 25/04/2012 10:58

OP you have put into words what most of us think every night...

CatsSleepAnywhere · 25/04/2012 11:26

OP I feel the same as you. Nobody ever notices what is done at home either!

You get no thanks.

valiumredhead · 25/04/2012 11:28

My mum told me that one thing I need to accept is that the washing basket will NEVER be empty Grin

MissBetsyTrotwood · 25/04/2012 11:34

It's relentless, like the tide. The worktops get covered with crap, then I clean it up again. Then they sweep in. Then I clear them up. And it goes on. And on.

Just listening to LBC at the mo, thanks to another thread. Listening to the callers loons is taking my mind off the tedium!

MissVforVendetta · 25/04/2012 11:38

Sometimes I like to do my big downstairs clean just after the girls have gone to bed.

Then, I stay up a bit later to enjoy padding around my lovely clean floors in bare feet, making a cup of tea and checking my spoon in the empty sink.

CaoNiMa · 25/04/2012 11:39

Domestic servitude.

missnevermind · 25/04/2012 11:44

I emptied my washing basket this weekend. We had a little party!

Squirrelz · 25/04/2012 11:50

Lol @missnevermind I finally got to the bottom of our washing basket a week or so back, and did a little dance! Blush

AndiRee · 25/04/2012 11:52

Just soul destroying

ohgawd · 25/04/2012 11:54

My house is currently a tip and staying like that for now

elinorbellowed · 25/04/2012 11:57

I once reached the bottom of the laundry basket. I was so happy, thought that would be a day free of sorting, washing, hanging out, folding laundry. Then DP finally picked everything up from his side of the bed and re-filled it. Divorce was close.
I did decide to not clean any more last week, because it seems so pointless, but I've already reneged on that because I was scared of botulism.

Morgan · 25/04/2012 11:58

But then you get to the bottom and it all starts again - i did 5 loads of washing one Kay inn the Hols and then the bin was full again the next day . Although a baking choc cake today and listening to a comedy on radio4 which is funny .
@missV - like it !!

hermionestranger · 25/04/2012 12:00

This is exactly how I feel! It. Just. Never. Ends.

When I win the lottery I shall have an army of staff an do NOTHING domestic chore wise. I shall do nice things like bake all day and play with the children and leave a huge mess for someone else to clear up!

toofattorun · 25/04/2012 12:00

It is one constant routine of tidying, laundry, cleaning, hoovering, changing bed covers, ironing...

That, combined with the kids moaning/fighting ALL the time, has made me really depressed lately.

So much so, that I thought FUCK IT sod it, if I am going to do it, at least try and make it a bit different, so I went out and bought LOADS of dusting wipes (even though I have already got loads), dettol sprays, ironing water (never used it in my life), etc. Only thing is, I could not find any Method Almond Floor Cleaning spray, which has annoyed me no end! Just sprayed Viakal in the bathroom so must get back to cleaning...haaarrrurmmmmph...

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/04/2012 12:05

I was just about to get the hoover out yet againthen thought fuck it I am away tomorrow and Friday, it can wait till saturday DS1 and 2 will be at home and perhaps they will do it while I am away hahahahahahaha duck there's a flying pig

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/04/2012 12:05

oops strike out error

hermionestranger · 25/04/2012 12:07

I'm so ready to go to university in September. I love the children but need a break from being everyones domestic. I've made it very clear that dh will have to pull his finger out more and help, not just do the dishwasher three or four times a week.

fannybaws · 25/04/2012 14:10

I have decided that no one apart from me cares whether the house is tidy or not.
So now I do it for me, when I feel like it, I love when the house is clean and tidy but don't get upset when I can't be bothered.
This has really helped my attitude to it all.
I do the same with meal planning, ie what do I want to eat!

Nospringchickendipper · 25/04/2012 16:05

I clean and tidy most days but I don,t know why I bother because it thankless task. My worry is if my DD and DS are still living at home when they are adults that I will still be cooking, cleaning and washing alll the time.
Will I still be shouting at them to tidy their rooms when I'm pushing my zimmer frame around the house hoovering as I shuffle along.

hermionestranger · 25/04/2012 16:09

I have to say that I cook for me now, I posted a thread about that last November after really losing my temper with dh and ds1. If they don't like what I make, they starve.

exexe · 25/04/2012 16:15

I agree OP.
How old are your children?
I can't wait to get mine to do more chores. They'll be doing as much as I can get away with.
Ds1(7) loves to hoover. I tell him he can hoover if he tidies everything up and the floor is clear so he does Grin

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/04/2012 16:54

fannybaws me too now but it will be interesting to see what happens when if I get a full time job anytime soon as they have all been spoilt while I have been unemployed. I am getting better at not caring quite so much at the mess, just wish people would put stuff back where they got it from.

TroublesomeEx · 25/04/2012 17:36

My DH seems to think I like a full laundry basket. I'll try really hard to get it empty and go upstairs just to gaze at the bottom of it and congratulate myself on clearing it, only to find he's filled it up again!
