Five days without any hot water and heating because they didn't check mine was on missed me because I was at work.

They have now filled up the holes in the road with access to the pipes. I have been told today by one workman "We have to dig up the road again now because you"

8 phone calls to the office has got me a we can't do it till we have access to your house, I am home tomorrow but that it no good for them.

My next day off is not till next Monday. IABU if I tell them I will kill them with my bare hands will not go with out hot water for another 6 days for something that is really not my fault.

How frustrating for you and what a pain that it is taking so long to resolve.

Did you know they would need someone at home to check the gas was working that day? If you did then YABU if not then YANBU seeing as there is no way you would have known to make someone available to check supply.

No I had no idea they needed me home and they have me marked off on their list as having been put back on, they also have next door down as done too and no one has lived in that house since before christmas!!!!!

I think they just ticked them off as they felt like it...

Where in the country are you? Which gas network? Depending on the network, contacting their customer services team should help (but some are more helpful than others). You should have been given a notice & then a leaflet dropped through your door explaining.

A nice fat compensation payment....or a hotel might make the cold water seem a little better........

iloveACK · 25/04/2012 00:04

Depending on the work being undertaken & why, there are set levels of compensation. At the very least they should have provided temporary cooking & heating supplies.

YABU - you should have been at home as required and you should not have been rude to the poor workman. I bet he went home and cried. You're a bad person.

tamitots · 25/04/2012 12:00

Now Flouncy are you saying this my fault because I wouldn't move the car because they wouldn't say please !!!!!!! :o

Do ypu have children? Is there any legal obligation by the company to not leave children without basic amenities?

I think this is the case with electricity. Maybe hot water too?

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 25/04/2012 13:20

Yes. I am saying that you are a bad, bad person. Bad.
