To not organise any surprises for DH's 40th?

I have discussed both the party and the present with him as I wanted to make sure it was what he wanted.

I feel like I ought to be doing something extra that he doesn't know about in advance but I'm buggered if I can think of what it would be.

Would you be underwhelmed if your 40th didn't contain any surprises, even if it did contain a nice party and a present that you wanted?

Not at all

We went to the Harvester for my 40th...but then I'm not big on Birthdays Grin

Is there anything you could do to surprise him at the party? Is it at home or at a venue?

I made a surprise party for my DP's 40th, the biggest surprise being his sons being there (300 miles away and at school so lots of logistics and co-operation). He loved it and appreciated everyone's efforts.

DP, very sensibly, did not surprise me at all for my 40th, I would have hated it. We did what I wanted to do.
