Well I have just bought a new car from arnold clark, horray! But only after a fashion with their sales people. I went round various garages, all taken over by arnold clark by now, and most sales people jumped on you the moment you walk in (and miraculously all have wives doing the same job as you). Had a long chat with a seemingly pleasant woman in one garage and did a test drive, loved the car but other things to think through. I had to leave at that point but said I would think and come back.
Always looking for the best deal possible I then went to another garage the same day and got the same car with a better trade in deal and a better service in general. Deal done.
Got home and the other woman phones up asking why I went somewhere else after talking to her and doing the test drive and what was it she did. I could have swore and shouted down the phone as she ranted back and forth to me for some time but politely said I got a better deal and thats how it worked out. Some people think they can win every time and thats just not how it goes.
