to really REALLY not get the big deal that is made about Alexa Chung in the media?

anything I've ever read about her is over the top complementary and gushing

have just read an article about wearing flat shoes, which isn't recommended (I know I know...) unless you are "blessed like Alexa"

to me she is an extremely ordinary looking girl and nothing she wears makes me think "oh I'd love that"

I'm not critiscising her looks, she is what she is, I'm no oil painting myself

I just can't fathom the media's fawning over her all the time

is she rich/conected to royalty/has a rich dad?? whats the attraction/arse licking by the media all about?

I think she used to be a tv presenter but recently I have no idea what she does. YANBU OP but I fail to see the appeal of lots of "famously beautiful" women, to me Kate Moss is rather plain and don't get me started on Georgia Jagger, teeth that could eat an apple through a tennis racket.

I suppose there will always be people like that in the media - famous for something or other, considered gorgeous by some and ordinary by others.

i think she is beautiful, although looking perhaps a bit too slight recently.
also she is one of those coat hanger types who can make anything look good, which is blessing indeed.

She can pull off outfits that I couldn't, because she has an extremely skinny, straight up and down kind of a figure. I wouldn't want to wear some of the things she does, but she can pull off wearing things that wouldn't necessarily work on many people. I like a lot of things she does wear and I'll look at a picture of her if it's in a magazine because it's more interesting to see what she has put together than a lot of other celebrities.

I think they're saying she's blessed because her legs are SO skinny that she doesn't need to create the illusion of slimming legs that heels help with. In the scheme of things I'm not sure that's a massive compliment in the real world.

I don't like her clothes, she always looks scruffy to me! I think she's supposed to be über fashionable. I'd rather wear something that looks nice rather than just wearing it because it's fashionable!

YANBU, the reverence is over the top. Having said that, I am a fan as there's something about her that makes her stand out - maybe she's not in the usual mould of models and not afraid to dress the way she wants, so she sets trends rather than follows.

Her styling is quirky, and as she says, she dresses like her granny, and dances like her mum

I also agree that she's become a bit too thin of late.

She is a nobody, famous for nothing apart from being skinny and wearing a lot of clothes.

She's the most pointless C list sleb of all them.

She lived with the bloke in Arctic Monkeys and is good friends with Zooey Deschanel so apparently that means she is quirky and fashionable.

She had a bag named after her - think it was Hermes or something. I don't get it either.

She was/is a model, and a tv presenter, and used to go out with the singer from the Arctic Monkeys....now she is just famous and fashionable.

I have no issue with her....other than the fact that she is far far too thin, and as such, should not be held up as a media role model.
She is naturally very slight in build (lucky her) but her weight has recently plummeted so she resembles a cd rack in flat shoes.
She looks scrawny and ill, and there is nothing beautiful about that.

I have never heard of her. It's threads like these that make me feel good about having turned my back on the media. Now I don't have to be annoyed about hearing about people that I would otherwise not even know about.

I do try to find important news once a week, but that's about the extent of it.

I just googled her. She was born on the same day as me! still can't muster any give-a-crap though. I don't recognise her picture at all. so, with that, i've definately never heard of her.

I agree, if you put Marilyn Monro in a room or Alexa cheung, it would be MArilyn for me any day. She seems nice enough, but every so often the world loves to find a muse. I guess she is currently the one.

I don't get all the fame she has, she's a skinny, gormless looking nonentity, who seems to be famous for going out with Alex Turner and having a large handbag named after her. Still can't understand why she's some kind of fashion icon though, she slouches and has a rubbish haircut.

Me neither - I have often wondered exactly the same I think it is one of these things that starts off as one person saying something and it just gathers momentum until it becomes fact - 'Alexa Chung is an amazing fashionista'.

To me, her clothes always look the same and, to a previous poster, I actually don't think clothes do look good on her as she is just so skinny - give me someone like Kelly Brook anyday who I think has an amazing figure and looks so much better than Alexa.
