AIBU to try to think up an AIBU post just to see what a pasting I'll get?

Seems like most OPs take a bit of stick on here, regardless of whether or not they are actually being unreasonable. Some posters appear to be 'lying in wait' to dish out scathing remarks for their own twisted amusement. Which I find totally unreasonable and think they should turn around and take good look at themselves and ask 1) why do they take so much pleasure in being unpleasant? and 2)why don't they find something more constructive to do with themselves?

Do you mean "more constructive" like starting pointless threads?

scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:08

yabu have you noting better to post about? i find this thread attention seeking and pathetic. get a life OP.

ps. is this the kind of response you are talking about? lol i see what you mean at times but its the spirit of AIBU. and i like it. we all get flamed at one point or another, everyone has different views and opinions. its more honest that other forums which i like and you either go into the corner sulk and lick your wounds or just get on with it, thicker skinned and keep posting.

Wink
FoofyShmooffer · 21/04/2012 08:09

Well I was I was with you until 2) when you you shot yourself in the foot. Grin same could be said for you and many others. Me included.

muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:13

Thanks, it works then. Sorry it is a totally pointless thread and I do apologise. It's just that AIBU, as many people point out on a daily basis, just seems to be reserved for totally thick skinned people who can take it in spadefuls. I'm not one of those people so I can't post in it anymore. Shame.

Isn't your post trolling? I.e. Deliberately trying to get an inflammatory response? I do agree that there are some dicks in aibu though.

scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:17

your posting in AIBU about a topic you KNOW will get your flamed and your state your not thick skinned? i dunno. Confused

muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:19

I don't really understand what trolling is to be honest. I just wish AIBU didin't leave me feeling so sad at the way some people love to have a go for the sake of it. And it seems to be attracting more unpleasant people by the day. (All company excepted, obviously)

OP posts:
FoofyShmooffer · 21/04/2012 08:19

mutt I'm the same. Why I haven't hidden AIBU by now is a flaming mystery. When the same names crop up continually to give someone a bashing I feel my jaws clenching tighter and tighter. I don't get the idea that it's the "spirit ofAIBU" it's mean spirited.

scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:20

perhaps you should give it a break for a while if it is effecting you that way ... meant in a nice way.

Ilovedaintynuts · 21/04/2012 08:20

Go away then?
It is what it is. Those who like it post here. Those who don't have lots of other places to hang out.

muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:21

I think it is people so frustrated by their own lives that they spout out all their bitterness on here?

OP posts:
scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:21

i meant spirit as in thats the way it is ... whether you like it or not. i agree with the OP but you either ignore or post and expect someone not to agree with you or at least read replies you dont agree with. its an internet forum!!! full of strangers and if you find it distressing its not worth your time. RL is distressing enough.

FallenCaryatid · 21/04/2012 08:22

Then avoid it.
I don't watch reality TV shows or JK because they make my skin crawl, but other people enjoy watching others squirm and rant and pour out their hearts for the audience to gawp at.
There are many other threads and topics on MN for you to enjoy.

muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:23

point taken scuzy,will bow out.

OP posts:
scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:24

mutti if you continue to post in an inflammatory matter you are as bad as those you are giving out about. i agree with you but you are losing weight in your argument with your comments ... i have nothing to be bitter about, at times I have posted in a not so nice way as the topic was something i was passionate about or didnt agree with responses. so if you are genuinely saddened by AIBU at times take a break. its not going to change.

muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:27

I am all in favour of being passionate scuzy but I'm talking about expressing a strong difference of opinion and down right hideousness for the sake of it. (not accusing you of that!!!)

OP posts:
muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:28

I mean there is a difference between expressing a strong difference of opinion and being down right abusive for the sake of it. (and I am not accusing you of that!!!)

OP posts:
scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:29

i know what you mean, i read it at times myself. i just ignore if i have nothing to add to thread. its hard i know. but sure you meet the in all walks of life. i do sometimes post harshly if I am upset in RL but even though it is annonymous there are real people beind every username.

scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:30

however I do apologise once i calm down. same as i would in RL.

FallenCaryatid · 21/04/2012 08:31

Depends what the thread is, some of the SN-bashing ones have been vile and encountered a robust response from those whose lives are directly connected and affected by similar negative attitudes.

scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:33

another way to look at it is AIBU wouldnt exist if we were all nice as pic.

AIBU?

not at all "hun" (boak) xxx

Hmm
scuzy · 21/04/2012 08:34

*pie

muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:42

no you're right. I got a severe pasting once for considering asking my Mum for financial help and it did help me reconsider a few things...

OP posts:
muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:42

and actually improved my attitude to a number of things that had been troubling me

OP posts:
muttimalzwei · 21/04/2012 08:46

you get the raw truth on here whereas in RL you get a lot of sympathetic nods but not a lot of insight (unless you are lucky enough to have brutally honest friends)
