as long as it doesnt leave streaks of shit and knows where the bleach is i say go for it!

LDNmummy · 18/04/2012 20:03

He's a black cat so not sure how I feel about him handling the bleach..

oh too risky ... how about a light detol spray? or wipes even?

LDNmummy · 18/04/2012 20:10

He's a lazy bugger (like his owner) so probably the wipes. Poor thing ha! It's about time he pulled up his fur and pitched in around the house though. Eating the occasional spider is just not enough IMHO.

My cat used to do this when i was a child - vile creature that he was Grin we all thouht it was quite amusing.

I wouldnt want it though, i dont know if you have young children, but would be worried about incidents of the cat "missing" and then your children coming into contact with it - cats poo can be pretty nasty in terms of bugs etc.

scuzy · 18/04/2012 20:12

how old is he/she? should at least clean out the cat litter once a week and lick the sofa clean

btw calling your cat a little bugger is vile! (apparently) lol

bitofcheese · 18/04/2012 20:13

my cat won't even eat spiders, she just sits there watching them....

patchesmcp · 18/04/2012 20:17

Been there, tried that with limited success. We have 2 cats and I think one of them would have got there in the end but the other one was so stubborn we stood no chance.

To be honest I wouldn't even try it unless it is a toilet you don't use as it would be far too much trouble to be taking the thing on and off the toilet.

Yes, before you ask I am was a bit mad :o

LDNmummy · 18/04/2012 23:57

Ah deep down I knew it was a daft idea. Would have been great to have a cat that actually did that though, I could have showcased it as my entertainment at future dinner parties Grin

Aw, I had a wonderful image of a cat sat on the lavy reading the racing post and having a cig on the go.

MrsShitty · 19/04/2012 00:09

I wanted my cats to do this! They're both Siamese and very bright. (pfc) and I think they'd soon get the hang! You would know when they "went" and could clean right away.

YNK · 19/04/2012 00:11

I once had a cat that regularly peed down the plughole in the bath. Direct hit too - not a drop in the actual bath!

MrsShitty · 19/04/2012 00:12

I think it's LESS bad than them digging around in litter and then walking all over the place. At least with the litter quitter they are only standing on the loo seat!

sashh · 20/04/2012 05:22

I actually had a cat who taught herself to use the toilet - she never managed the flush - but compared to useing a litter tray it was a doddle.

joannita · 20/04/2012 05:24

Oh yes, go for it! Cat litter is gross.

tinkertitonk · 20/04/2012 07:42

Go for it, the cat wants to learn. It's not miaowing, it's saying "teach me". Also, spider-eating? You have an über-cat. Read Saki's story Tobermory if you haven't already.

rubycon · 20/04/2012 10:10

mine pee down the bath plughole - they even come in to do it. Dirty sods.

bruffin · 20/04/2012 10:16

My cat is obsessed with the toilet [see profile], if anyone is in there she paws at the door to be let in, then will try and sit on your lap and demand attention while your trying to go.
Caught her this week with her head down the toilet, dread to think what she was up to Confused
My friend is a mad cat lady with 7 cats and thinks that our cat my be easy to train to use the loo.

cantspel · 20/04/2012 10:18

Great but remember to check the loo for logs befere the in laws come to tea.

NiniLegsInTheAir · 20/04/2012 10:28

My cat will only drink running water from the bath tap, despite having her own water bowl and an abundance of puddles outside Hmm. And she's afraid of the toilet, when the flush goes she runs around like mad.
