Went for a job interview recently and they asked me questions following pre-set questions. They then gave me a chance to ask some questions which I did. But just as the interview was drawing to a close the Regional manager asked me why I was applying for this role when I had good qualifications and experience as he would have expected someone with my background to apply for a higher level role. I gave him a pretty good answer and they offered me the job. Now I've looked on their website and see that they're advertising a manager role that I know I could do! It's higher up than the role I've been offered and it would keep me happy for a long long time! I was wondering whether to email the a regional manager and ask if he thinks I could apply for the manager post eventhough I've been offered and accepted the other post but am not due to start for at least five weeks? I suffer from such a lack of confidence at interviews. In my current role I actually applied for an assistant role and they rang me to say they wouldn't be offering me the job but they were recruiting for a higher position that they thought I was more suited to and they wanted to interview for that! So technically I got promoted before I started the job! I am in a quandary about to do. Will the Regional manager think I'm being cheeky and therefore just draw attention to myself? Or will they think it's too much hassle to find someone else for the role they've already offered me? AIBU to apply for a job at a place that has already offered me a job??
