AIBU to think that the Debenhams window that I've been staring at all day, contains the ugliest shoes I have seen in a long time!

here the pink ones look like they are made of plastic. I'm sure Barbie had some like that...

Yanbu.
But I saw a girl wearing the world's ugliest trainers today. Big red bastards that looked like rolls of Edam with laces.

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 15:51

All of those clothes look hideous. Who the hell styled that lot?

lol at 'big red bastards'

rhondajean · 14/04/2012 15:54

I would love those shoes but I am erm not always a subtle dresser...

KitCat26 · 14/04/2012 15:56

Grin My mum dug out my old barbies for my dds to play with and there were about twenty pairs of shoes most of which looked exactly like that. I wouldn't wear them but wish I could walk in proper high heels without looking like a complete tit

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 16:03

saggy why are you staring into the Debehmams window all the day long?

Agincourt · 14/04/2012 16:05

I worked as a visual merchandiser for debenhams and I had a degree and industry experience and it's all governed by head office and you have no artistic license

Panzee · 14/04/2012 16:06

I remember those Barbie shoes.
I am disliking lots of shoes at the moment. Ridiculous platforms mainly.

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 16:07

Agree about the ridiculous platforms.

I like platforms - they are usually a lot more comfortable anyway, but a small platform. Those great big 2 inch platforms which are everywhere now are so unflattering.

Tee2072 · 14/04/2012 16:07

Socks have feet? Since when?

Agincourt I was going to go into that sort of design before I learned what you know. No thanks!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 14/04/2012 16:12

The socks have bows on the outside. Everyone knows that the bows go on the outside!

Getorf, I'm working on the market. Outside Debenhams.

Some kid just asked his mum if she looked like that once!
I told him we had better taste in those days!

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 16:15

No we didn't saggy.

Not if I remember what I used to troll around in in the 90s.

And watch Working Girl to see what was considered the height of style in the 80s. Grin

Tee2072 · 14/04/2012 16:20

I can't even see the bows! ::old lady, bad eyesight::

Agincourt · 14/04/2012 16:23

I wsh they would stop employing young girls who can affoird to take internships to design their main collections aimed at women of all ages and practicalities
meks me sick actuallyWink

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 16:25

Is that what they do agincourt? Crikey.

Agincourt · 14/04/2012 16:27

god yes, loads of graduates work for basically nothing for loads of companies on internships basis
I thought that was common knowledge Blush

Katiekitty · 14/04/2012 16:28

Also LOLing here at 'big red bastards' and 'Edam'

GetOrfMoiLand78 · 14/04/2012 16:31

Oh yes, I know that internships are hugely prevalent, but I was referring in particular having interns to design dresses for free which they then sell in their shops. It just seems particularly crap.

Agincourt · 14/04/2012 16:34

well it is for free really, most interns only get paid for their expenses

I think this is a different threadthough

Agincourt · 14/04/2012 16:34

but iirc I designed stuff and pattern cut for design houses for free when i was at university. I think most of us did!

DressDownGoodFriday · 14/04/2012 16:42

Well I'm going to go against the grain. I quite like the shoes - are they supposed to be some sort of Vivian Westwood rip off? Can't remember what they are called.

I wanted some of the real mccoy in red. I am far too old and dowdy to pull them off but I just wanted to own a pair (VW not Debenhams).

ripsishere · 14/04/2012 16:55

How strange. me and DD have recently got home from shoe shopping. After the experience, I took her to MacDs.
We were eating and both looking toward the till. I nearly choked on my own tongue when we saw a girl with black boxes on her feet. I think they were wedges and heels, but they just looked like solid black rocking boxes.
Hideous, especially since the wearer was 13-15 and had a lovely orange face.
