Hmm

really.....all my kids can see! Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 13/04/2012 20:13

Highly unlikely.

cazboldy · 13/04/2012 20:13

in all seriousness, I think there is something in dog poo that can if they have not been wormed

TidyDancer · 13/04/2012 20:13

Are you being serious?!

mrspnut · 13/04/2012 20:14

I think he'll be absolutely fine. Kids in homes up and down the country have dogs and are able to see perfectly well.

cazboldy · 13/04/2012 20:14

but don't think it would be passed onto your ds by a lick

Imachocolateportal · 13/04/2012 20:14

I know that there is a bacteria that can be within dogs mess which can cause blindness, but I have not heard of being licked on the face causing blindness Hmm

Flisspaps · 13/04/2012 20:14

Dog faeces getting into the eyes can cause blindness in rare cases.

A dog's tongue licking your child's face is unlikely to cause blindness though - some people let dogs lick their faces quite often!

yabvu

JarethTheGoblinKing · 13/04/2012 20:18

Ha, bloody hell. Daft op!

DS recently wiped dog shit all over himself when he trod in it and got it all over the slide, rubbed it in his eyes, it was disgusting.

Dog was wormed though, and toxacara blindness is incredibly rare anyway.

justmatureenough2bdad · 13/04/2012 20:18

you might think it awfully horrible, but i often let dog lick my wounds....

kittyandthefontanelles · 13/04/2012 20:18

Dirty dogs. They lick their own bumholes. It's toxoplasmosis which can cause blindness. Very rare though.

StepfordWannabe · 13/04/2012 20:19

get a grip ffs

FatherHankTree · 13/04/2012 20:19

It only causes blindness if the toxicaria (sp?) worm egg is present and only if left untreated.

topknob · 13/04/2012 20:20

It is actually unwormed/unboostered puppy shit not normal dog shit :)

kat1885 · 13/04/2012 20:22

You know there are more harmful bacteria in a human mouth than a dog mouth don't you. Just saying.

Salmotrutta · 13/04/2012 20:23

kitty - it's cat crap that carries toxoplasmosis.

Dog crap may contain toxocara (the parasite that can cause blindness is some cases)

TattyDevine · 13/04/2012 20:24

What you do is get them to lick their faces clean then you don't have to waste £££ of wetwipes

Thanks all - feel much better.
StepfordWannabe no need for that language.

Salmo, thanks for the correction. S'pose I should've known that with a name like mine! I'm always up for a bit of learning. They still lick their own bumholes though!

Salmotrutta · 13/04/2012 20:32

I'm always wary of correcting others - but the inner teacher can't resist kitty Grin

And yes - cats and dog's love to lick their "parts" don't they! Hmm

CupOfBrownJoy · 13/04/2012 20:35

bahhhh hah hahahahahaaaaaaa

Really? Hmm

kittyandthefontanelles · 13/04/2012 20:38

Salmo, the teacher in me loves the lifelong learning!

frumpet · 13/04/2012 20:39

After speaking to the professor of microbiology at the hospital after ds2 ingested fox poo (boak) he said that it is highly unlikely that a healthy child , ie one who doesnt have a low immunity would contract toxacara . So i reckon your child is probably alright .

frumpet · 13/04/2012 20:40

And before anyone checks , it was toxacara and not toxoplasmosis that i spoke to him about Grin
