to not want to share my new toy

Ok, I know I'm being U, but I won an iPad and it arrived on Wednesday - Very happy Prof :)

But I was working so powered it on, installed a couple of apps (to check I could do it) and left it at that, let DP have a brief play with it (he likes Angry birds) while DD was napping. I have not spent more than 30 minutes on it since then, he hogs it and when ever I ask for it back he moans and won't give it back. I eventually commented last night that he'd sat on it for over an hour and not said a single word to me (while watching some crap on TV that he insisted on watching)

When he eventually put it down, I picked it up and he moaned at me for ignoring him!
I know it's petty and stupid, but am I being hideously unreasonable to want to have some time to play with my new toy and figure it out before he complete takes it over?

From another gadget fiend, YANBU :)

hattifattner · 13/04/2012 09:26

put a password on it.

ProfCoxWouldGetIt · 13/04/2012 09:30

I did put a password on it - but he stropped until I told him what it was.

I have nothing to hide, but it does bother me that he has access to my facebook and hotmail on it.

Ooh tricky!

I think really if either of you going to sit on an iPad in the evening the other is going to be miffed. Me and dh have one each, we are forever on them, and I know if we didn't, thee would be issues!

Chopstheduck · 13/04/2012 09:40

Basically - you need to buy him his own!

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 13/04/2012 09:41

Put Jenga on it. Play together. Smile

Chopstheduck · 13/04/2012 09:42

Trival pursuit is good too, and can do pass and play.

Chopstheduck · 13/04/2012 09:43

Off to look for Jenga now! Will make dt1s day!

savoycabbage · 13/04/2012 09:43

My dh is addicted to his. He got one when they very first came out and he never said a word to me in the evenings. He was reading comics and playing chess with strangers.

eosmum · 13/04/2012 09:44

YAsooooooooNBU, I got one for my birthday/Christmas/Last years birthday/Last 20 christmases, present. I find it very difficult to get any time on it, there is always someone whose turn it is next. Have had to wait until 11pm the last couple of nights to get it to myself. They call it "the" iPad I keep correcting and saying "my" iPad but it's not getting through.

PeelingBells · 13/04/2012 09:44

scrabble app great to play together too (haha but sorry this not solving problem)

ProfCoxWouldGetIt · 13/04/2012 09:56

The thing I find so odd is that DP hates gadgets as a rule, he's never had a facebook or twitter account, he says he can't understand why anyone would want one.

He has an ipod touch, and he refuses to use it, even though I've offered to put the games on it for him.

defintely can't afford another one, only have this one as I won it in a competition, otherwise would have blissfully gone on without it.

Now very tempted to sell them damn thing on ebay

Just put the games on his touch and hand it to him. Once they are there, he will play them.
