Sorry, boring kitchen stuff, not money!

My dad lent me his steamer for dinner yesterday as mine wasnt big enough on its own. Mum brought some cutlery as I wasnt sure I had enough (formal dinner for 14!).

Melted one of the steamer bowls when I didnt realise I had left the cooker on and put the bowl next to the vent while I unloaded the dishwasher.

Lost one of the forks, from the only full set mum has. Fuck knows where that is, there are only 3 places it can be but I am buggered if I can find it and she is going on, and on....and on about it now.

I only said yes as they insisted. Wishing I had boiled the veg and used plastic cutlery now!

Have ordered a replacement steamer already btw, and am looking on line for the same cutlery just in case!

Tbf, they are fine about the steamer, its the cutlery that is the issue. But its the worry of it being someone elses stuff.

If it was mine I would be pissed off but I would replace it, end of. As it is, now I feel like a right pita!

I ALWAYS wreck things that people lend me. Costs a fortune in replacing stuff.

Therefore I tend not to borrow stuff if I can help it. I once borrowed a shredder from a friend and broke it the first day I had it. He was good about it and said it needed replacing anyway so brought me around a brand new one to use. I broke that the day after and couldn't get it replaced so had to admit it. He was a bit funny about lending me stuff after that.

YANBU

I have friends that insssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiist on trying to lend us stuff allllllll the time. They are lovely people but very particular about their stuff and there is no way in the world we would want to borrow it and we don't ask for it because the thought of the inventory session upon return of item would just be horrendous.

Bogeyface · 09/04/2012 23:59

Why is it ALWAYS the other person stuff that gets wrecked?

I mean, I have 3 steamer bowls and countless forks (not enough though obv :o) and it wasnt those got wrecked or lost was it?!

FFS! :o

My mum is a bit unlucky like that. She was once lent a very expensive ski suit (for the first time she ever went skiing aged 50) and didn't even take it out of the bag, just put a bit of lemon soap in for a bit so it smelt like it had been washed (and therefore worn!)

Bogeyface · 10/04/2012 00:01

FOUND THE FORK!!!!!!!

Just had a brainwave and it was in the bottom of the dishwasher! Woohoo!!!!

Just the money for the steamer to find now.......Hmm

I never break my own things but I do lose them! I bought a phone set in the Jan sales, landline phone with two handsets. One handset is missing already! I only live in a little house, I fail to see where it could be!

Bogeyface · 10/04/2012 00:02

I heart your mum Blue ! A ski suit has got "Disaster" written all over it, or atleast it would if I had borrowed it!

If we are talking about losing things chicken then I would be grateful if my Kindle (a Xmas present Blush) and my ipod would come back to me :(

A thought chicken my phone has the ability to ring one handset from the other. Could you do that and follow the rings?
