My lovely 13yo ds was at a sleepover last night - the mum gave him a SHOT of peach schnapps! I know them well, really lovely family and i'm so disappointed about this, got an apology by text but my ds says she is annoyed 'cos I didnt text her back - to be honest i'm speechless atm.

I think you are overeacting personally. I realise this by default makes me a secret alcoholic but there you go.

not on for another parent to do this. You can be as mediterranean and liberal as you like but it's not for another parent to decide.

I find the "you're overrreacting" line a bit weird. It's not for other parents to decide what is right for your DS.

and I disagree that this sort of reaction is what leads us to be a nation of drunks. we're a nation of drunks because alcohol is drunk for its own sake, not with food. It sounds like that's what happened here, so precisely not the "right" was to approach alcohol.

The most unreasonable thing about this thread is the poster who said that they don't drink themselves when they have a sleepover - how anyone could get through and evening of kids/ teens staying over without alcohol is mental

But yesm fine for her to do with her own children and I have a relaxed atmosphere myself but wrong to make that choice for other kids.

My dsd had sleepover where the mum bought them a WKD each and theyre now all addicted to it and beleive sleepovers without alchol arent cool or fun.
