Twice in a week
With no shame at all
Last Sunday a cyclist on a country - but busy- road
Today in a busy A road a coach had pulled over and a dozen blokes were overtly slashing on both sides of the road
I'm no prude - but it's not nice
Or am I??

The cyclist we saw was opposite a pine forest .....

I've never seen it in the UK but v common in Europe.We once saw a bloke pooing by a tree in a village centre in Italy!

Yesterday in Glasgow city centre I saw a man stood at the back of his van with the doors open leaning against it pissing all over the road and the back of his van, during the day on a busy street.

Yy to more discretion. Wjat annoys me is blokes pissing just outside the entrance of a pub. Takes the piss literally and metaphorically.

It's a regular sight in Central Manchester.

Yes the pregnant being allowed to pee in a policeman's helmet is one of the old laws that still stands along with being able to legally shoot someone in Sherwood Forest provided its midnight and with a bow & arrow (or something to that effect).

it's probably on the increase as public loos are bloody hard to find, (unless you're in a city centre in daylight) now!

i drive alot and apart from service stations, laybys don't have toilets, they should do though!

It happens outside our block of flats constantly. Sometimes at night, often during the day. It's dreadful to see abd it stinks. (zone 2, London)

When I was in Ghana you would see women and girls pissing openly at the roadside.

And as councils close public toilets to save money it will only get more common.
One HGV driver apparently tried 5 towns to find a toilet before going in the layby. And he was arrested as he finished.
Fact is there's times when there's no alternatives. So as long as discretion's been aimed at (no pun intended) then fair enough.

We didn't have a compost heap. He just did it by the side of the driveway. He couldn't be arsed to go indoors and use the toilet. (Our garden wasn't that big!)

Thought it was only male wee that was good for compost - isn't lady wee too acidic?

I completely understand the problems with the lack of public loos.

But I was truly shocked when we were driving along an A road with our DD's in the car,and in full view in broad daylight a man was pissing on the verge.He could have taken the option to wander off down the slope a little and this would have been discreet and quite acceptable in my eyes.But the fact that we could clearly see his penis,as he boastfully peed in a high arc in the air,was completely unbelievable.

Its disgraceful.And its clearly illegal to expose your penis in a public place.

I think it's part of being a man and all that goes with it. The mrevipen they are the better

I wee outdoors with the best of them as does dp and the children but we don't indecently expose ourselves to dozens of people every time

UK is the only "Western" country where I 've seen little boys peeing onto walls in middle of town centres with parents watching though.

Its not clearly illegal to expose your penis in a public place. Being naked in a public place is not a specific offence. It is an offence to deliberately expose your penis in order to shock/alarm another eg flashing. Skinny dipping, nudism, nude sunbathing are legal.

I was going to say from reading the OP that YABU, but then reading on I see you're talking about people making no effort to hide themselves. Personally if I'm out cycling and feel the need to go I'll stop at the side of the road, but I will make the best effort possible to hide from anybody else (ie heading into the woods behind a tree) - so YANBU assuming you consider that OK.

The thing is, DS1 isn't so bothered about such niceties and will just drop his trousers at the side of a well used path in the woods. Is that OK because he's only 5 (and yes I do try and stop him from doing that)?

Dad i'd just say old enough to have understanding - id chastise all my kids for pant dropping but only be properly upset with maybe over about 6 years ...

It is the 'brazen' act I object to - not a discreet one. I've had seven babies and as such had to pee on a lot of grass verges but doubt I've ever been spotted by passing cars and am certain I've never flashed my naked flesh...

Believe it or not, it's also illegal in France. Someone made the front page of the paper last year for allowing his little boy to pee against a tree.

I once got stuck in a snow blizzard at the side of t he motorway and after several hours could hold on no longer (was pregnant) so opened the car door and had a wee, just as a coachload of tourists went past, they saw everything. Just got up and took a bow. Have no problems with calls of nature, but everyone should make an effort to be discreet. in our town th hey have urinals on the street, horrible but better than doorways, Actually fairly jealous of blokes just being able to whip it out and pee, many country walks and camping trips spoiled by nettle rash on bum.
