everyone shits and that stinks

marriedinwhite · 07/04/2012 21:22

Scurvy is caused by lack of vitamin c I think. Nothing to do with onions or fish. If you don't cook onions or fish because of the smell though you are either doing it wrong or are too precious. Perhaps servants did it when you were growing up Grin

NearlyMrsCustardsHardHat · 07/04/2012 21:24

Nah all you're missing out on is tasty grub

Sparklingbunnyears · 07/04/2012 21:25

What about rickets?

I don't cook fish because I don't like things that have to be beheaded and look at you while you scrape their insides out. Then there's the bones.

Fish fingers and tins of pilchards and tuna is as good as it gets fish-wise for me.

MrsKittyFane · 07/04/2012 21:59

What about garlic? I never cook with it.
Smell stays in the house for months :o

KurriKurri · 07/04/2012 23:25

Didn't olde tyme sailors get scurvy? - they must have had plenty of fish (maybe not onions though)

GrimmaTheNome · 07/04/2012 23:31

I can understand Christ going on about fish (trying to gather 'secret' followers) but what's with the onions?

BellaOfTheBalls · 07/04/2012 23:35

Scurvy caused by lack of vitamin c found in fresh fruit & veg. Not much fresh produce to be had during long periods at sea in those days. Also not much vit c in onions. Or fish.

And how on earth do you cook without garlic? The amount I go through I think my family could singlehandedly stop any attempt at vampire domination. It's supposed to be good for the heart isn't it?
