Driving through Walthamstow, East London. My dh stopped to let 3 women with a toddler cross at zebra. One of the women turned around & tried to spit in the girls face. I started shouting for my dh to stop but he didn't see & wouldn't. He grew up in the area & said not to get involved. He was saying what would I do anyway? I don't know what I would do just wanted them to know that someone saw & that was not an acceptable way to treat a child. If that's how they are in the street how do they treat her at home. Felt so sorry for that little girl & I feel disapointed with my dh. What would you have done?

thats really sad, it breaks my heart that some children are abused this way :(

Shock

I think I would have had to comment. I don't know what I would have said though on the spur of the moment.

How horrible.

I don't think there was anything your DH could do or say at that would change that Sk*y excuse of a mothers mind.

They were Asian. Didn't even think it was acceptable in other cultures.never ever heard of that before. Didn't look like a blessing to meHmm

CCTV in the area?
Like other posters have said - there was little you could have done there and then.
The women may be known to Social Services or police.

What a horrible thing to see.

I only know about it because of my big fat greek wedding I'm terribly cultured.

That is awful, poor child.
