I am really annoyed at my ExP who believes that our 9 year old should phone him rather than him phoning her. This might sound trivial but why the hell should i have to pay for the calls especially since he hasn't paid maintenance for over 7 months and he only has a mobile number to ring. Why the hell should my dd have to chase him rather than him phoning on a regular basis. If he wants to be in her life then he needs to make the bloody effort.

Well my friend and his ex have the deal that whoever has the kids makes the calls so the one who does not have them doesn't disturb any activities etc

But they have a nice 50/50 split and no maintenence issues

In your case yanbu and he should call if he is so bothered
