bought a dress that looks like the btidesmaid dress my sister is wearing for my wedding?

its a strapless long floaty purple dress. I've had to change the purple colour I wanted as my theme because of this!!

The day we booked the date of the wedding and the venue she went out and bought her entire outfit the next day!!

I would not say anything, she's a grown woman and she can wear what she wants - even if she ends up making herself look silly, that's her problem, not yours. I don't think you can start dictating to guests what dress/colour they can or cannot wear, that way bridezilla-ish madness lies!

doubleshotespresso · 03/04/2012 13:50

OP I think you ought to accept her actions as a huge compliment.....
a wedding is one day, a marriage should be for a lifetime. Your thoughts I think for you and your MIL ought to be focused way beyond purple dresses!

Enjoy your big day and let her enjoy it too. x

Yanbu. Tis weird.

MickyDodger · 03/04/2012 15:41

Yeah, how dare a woman of over 50 Shock wear a nice dress that might also be worn by a younger woman! Hoe dare she, you want to go buy her a nylon housecoat and slippers and tell her to fuck off into her kitchen where she belongs.

Ooh, I like your df Princessblods. My poor Mum had to take back a beautiful dress because Shock it was a similar colour to the bridesmaids' dresses. She remained unforgiven because it meant that the secret colour theme was revealed before the big day (double Shock).

I'm still a little pissed off for my lovely Mum. On my wedding day I Smileed as she wore a dress the same colour as my bridesmaids. So did half the female guests mind you.

We don't own colours.

At my brother's wedding I meant to say.

diogenidae · 03/04/2012 16:11

this made me chortle OP. At my wedding my dear MIL wore a long, white, heavily embroidered dress & then got shit faced during the photos & ripped my head dress off & spent the rest off the reception prancing around wearing it. My mum was close to murder & everyone else was just Shock . What joy!

Pmsl @ 'the secret colour theme was revealed before the big day' Grin

God - does anyone care about a wedding theme colour other than the bride? What was she...13?

Your DF sounds nice and sensible too! Have a lovely day and don't sweat the small stuff.
