...to be spending too much time on Mumsnet when the missus thinks I am doing job applications?

To be fair to me it is her fault. She told me to log back into Mumsnet after being away for a while to post my question about whether a health questionnaire was legal or not. Now I'm here I can't leave!

The eldest two are happy on the Wii and she is out with the youngest at his 30th (almost literally) birthday party of this school year alone (all the social skills in our family were distilled into his tiny little body and the frustrating little so and so can charm anyone with a simple smile).

I am supposed to be working my way through a massive pile of job applications. I haven't even had lunch yet (the kids have).

I'm a mess. It is all the fault of Mumsnet.

I haven't checked my email, my googlereader feed, gone to the loo, eaten, moved or scratched my very itchy back for about 2 hours now and I don't know what to do.

I'm thinking about replying to every single AIBU thread even though I've long since replied to the few I have anything meaningful to contribute to.

Every argument the kids have about the Wii has me reply with "I don't care".

Am I being unreasonable to be spending so much time on this stupidly addictive site again?

I'm remembering why I stopped coming on here before.

Shock must be nice to be headhunted.

has the lady of the house not got a nice long list for you? to keep you out of trouble like? Wink

Yes and no. one of the jobs is a job that I would love but involves a lot of upheaval that I am really not sure that I want. And I know ds doesn't want. Shame cos it is perfect in every other way. Applied for it but...

MNHubbie · 18/04/2012 20:28

It is weird. I did ask them to send me a pack but just didn't bother when I'd got all the rest in as it isn't either overseas or on the South Coast but actually a pain in the arse distance that makes it too far to really commute but not far enough to really make a move worthwhile.

I'll do the application so as not to be rude and to avoid burning any bridges.

Hey upheaval can be good! We're planning a major move for just about any of the jobs I hope to get but especially the big one... fingers crossed... not too long...

Good luck and get to it!

I've got a form to fill in that I stupidly said I'd done already. I think they just want to make up the numbers...

Hey, in spite of spending my whole life quite a bit of time on MN myself ...

.... dn, dn, deh .....

... I've just been offered a job !

Yay ! So, good luck to you too for tomorrow Smile

WishingRLwouldFuckOff · 19/04/2012 21:27

Well done Juggling.

Nearly the 20th. Good luck. Try not to count every single minute tomo.

MNHubbie · 19/04/2012 21:33

Hey Juggling well done! Excellent news!

I, unfortunately, have had a message to say the decision will be after the weekend!

ARRRGGGHH!!!

After the feedback I had I was still trying not to get my hopes up but now they are utterly dashed. If I can get feedback like that and it isn't a cut and dry decision then I don't think its going to go the right way.

I've got more applications to do this week but all interviews will have to be done by the 29th! Ah! And if positive then we've lost a weekend I could have been prepping.

I can't do waiting at the best of times but this is too much!

But HUGE thanks!

Oh, I'm sorry you've got to wait all weekend, how annoying.

My jobs only til July but it's a start ...

MNHubbie · 20/04/2012 22:18

Its a foot in the door though and a step. Apparently I may hear on Sunday which could mean I crawl or fly through the Cub parade.

Any news MNH?

MNHubbie · 23/04/2012 21:03

I got a mail Sunday saying that the Head has a lot of other places to fill in other subjects and he wants to inform us all at the same time. He also said he had internal candidates to talk to "as a courtesy".

I have an informal chat with his Assistant Heads booked via Skype to "dot i-s and cross ts" as we worked together before. It then says in bold that "I am his preferred candidate at this time"

All very positive but at the same time more worry, no sleep and no real answer. So much to do if it is positive.

Most folks who've read the mail are very positive about it but there are a few who feel I'm being mucked about and that I'm being strung along.

I don't know what to think.

Meanwhile I've had two interview offers from UK schools but both are from places I'm not too bothered about (back up places that I would not mind working in but am not desperate to). I was hoping that if I got interviews for these it would be after others. It is great to get interviews but with the Skype interview I have had to make a decision and have had to turn them down. I especially don't wish to muck them about at work requesting time of and then not needing it etc.

Still 3 interview requests so far tell me I'm getting something right with my applications.

Oh and my Head has asked for "Urgent" information on the progress of my application as she is sick to death of writing references for me. I sent her the mail and asked that she put any references on file until Thursday...

oops

Thanks for asking.

Any news from you RL?

Oh, that sounds very encouraging to me.

If they don't offer it to you after making so many encouraging noises then they really would be messing you about. The head has basically told you he needs more time till he can tell you officially - and given a couple if reasons. Sounds good too me ! (if slightly annoying !)

WishingRLwouldFuckOff · 23/04/2012 21:53

Crickey, you must be getting sick to death of not knowing one way or the other. Will keep fingers crossed it is a positive ending and not a mucking about.

Nope. Nought. Didn't expect much though. Completely wrong economic environment to try to change field.

MNHubbie · 23/04/2012 22:25

Thanks Juggling . I'd like to think it is but you know how it is. Thanks.

Wishing you're not wrong at all. Stick with it I'm sure there is something out there. Keep going.

Thank you both.
