...to be spending too much time on Mumsnet when the missus thinks I am doing job applications?

MNHubbie · 31/03/2012 15:03

To be fair to me it is her fault. She told me to log back into Mumsnet after being away for a while to post my question about whether a health questionnaire was legal or not. Now I'm here I can't leave!

The eldest two are happy on the Wii and she is out with the youngest at his 30th (almost literally) birthday party of this school year alone (all the social skills in our family were distilled into his tiny little body and the frustrating little so and so can charm anyone with a simple smile).

I am supposed to be working my way through a massive pile of job applications. I haven't even had lunch yet (the kids have).

I'm a mess. It is all the fault of Mumsnet.

I haven't checked my email, my googlereader feed, gone to the loo, eaten, moved or scratched my very itchy back for about 2 hours now and I don't know what to do.

I'm thinking about replying to every single AIBU thread even though I've long since replied to the few I have anything meaningful to contribute to.

Every argument the kids have about the Wii has me reply with "I don't care".

Am I being unreasonable to be spending so much time on this stupidly addictive site again?

I'm remembering why I stopped coming on here before.

Agreed you are making me feel guilty for having achieved little today then halving the laundry mountain.

Jackin · 02/04/2012 16:10

I think he might be stealth boasting :)

MNHubbie · 02/04/2012 16:37

Heh heh heh Wink

The ones I've applied for are simple cover letter and CV so it isn't as impressive as it sounds.

The job is a short hop from Japan so it would make visiting it possible.

I've been struggling all day with an application form that a school stupidly put up on their website in PDF rather than Doc form. I used Zamzar to change it to a .Doc all the text is editable now but all the table borders are actually pictures... it is wonderful fun.

Nearly done now.

I don't do enough for her or around the house.

Still. Job done. Mumsnet avoided a little more today so 2 more applications done in full.

AIBU to want these schools to use the same bloody application form?

OP posts:
WishingRLwouldFuckOff · 02/04/2012 22:06

YABU the application form is testing your ability to jump through paperwork hoops and ensuring your ability to work within the system imposed by the school which is different from every other school because that particular school has the best system for doing things. Natch Wink

MNHubbie · 02/04/2012 22:25

Ahhhh...

...so it yet another pile of bullshit like pretty much everything in my job that isn't actually teaching lessons.

That sorts that out for me. Onward and upward.

are you still on here? Grin
Should you not be cleaning?

WishingRLwouldFuckOff · 02/04/2012 22:59

You mean you expect to be teaching as a teacher and not paperwork pushing. Tsk big mistake there MNH Grin sogladshegotout

MNHubbie · 02/04/2012 23:39

You missed out the crowd control too.

Cleaning has fallen by the wayside today I'm afraid.

I've failed as a husband.

I have got another one done though.

puds11 · 02/04/2012 23:42

ah you suck! Grin

WishingRLwouldFuckOff · 02/04/2012 23:49

You are still managing to do better then me as I have ended up in a bun fight on a type of thread I always hide. And this is a reason why I didnt venture into the main boards for over a year.

I have a pile of applications to do tomo, after a stupidly long drive and yet I am still here. Again.

Oh and crowd control, doesn't that also go under the name of parenting? Wink

MNHubbie · 03/04/2012 00:40

I've got a few threads I'm ignoring which did help me to get on with work tbh.

Good luck with the drive and applications.

I'm not sure if writing them is easier than typing as none of the tables are ever the same.

MNHubbie · 03/04/2012 23:41

Does it help that you are a bad influence and I now have a pile of 14 jobs to get applied for today?

After 2 meetings, doctors and an appointment with a solicitor.

MNHubbie · 04/04/2012 09:26

Mwhahaha...

I did none yesterday :( But I shall do loads today and so shall you!

OP posts:
Jackin · 04/04/2012 11:30

Yeah, i'll just check aibu then I'll get on.....

MNHubbie · 04/04/2012 16:14

Still there?

I went to the cinema with the kids. DP spilled all my drink, I got a coughing fit from the popcorn, had to control my breathing, fell asleep, when I woke I couldn't see through the 3D specs as all I saw was black and without them it was a blur... then I realised the film was filled with swearing, crude comments, sex and I'm sure at one point I heard some homophobia. Plus it was hardly the steampunk adventure I'd expected.

Pirates... not sure if I'd seen it properly if I'd have a different opinion but for now I'd say avoid it.

And my TENS slipped walking back so it wouldn't switch on so the choice was agony or dropping my trousers in public... given I'm a teacher the latter would probably seriously damage my career so I took the pain instead.

So... my time avoiding job applications wasn't all that well spent.

How did your time in AIBU go? Have you started work on it all yet?

OP posts:
WishingRLwouldFuckOff · 04/04/2012 17:17

Ouch. Pain better today?

I have done the appointments and spring cleaned half of ds' room. That count as doing stuff?

MNHubbie · 04/04/2012 18:05

That was today! But better now I have it on properly.

Definitely stuff but not the stuff you were wanting to get done.

Relax tonight in front of the TV with a nice pile of applications!

I plan to...

...plan to. Lets see what happens. 2 more applications downloaded... ug
