...rather than have to change the bedding on bunkbeds!

It is the household job I hate the most (even more than cleaning the loo).

Its a nightmare - trapping my fingers trying to wrap the sheet around the frigging mattress on the top and cos I'm so tall clumsy I must bash my head at least twice everytime when changing the bottom bunk.

It didnt help today when, having dried the bedding outside in the sun, whilst putting it back on I found 3 ladybirds (one on top of the other Shock, 2 greenfly and a couple of unidentified bugs on them, I felt like I was in a David Attenborough documentary.

And that, MyLud, is why I have had to consume a bottle of wine to get over the trauma of it all :o

When was the last time you changed it? I do DS's every fortnight, but have been known to stretch it out for another week occasionally.

SydSaid · 30/03/2012 20:47

What age are they?

My kids strip their own beds, and put on their own sheets and pillow cases - I help with the duvet cover.

BigHairyFlowers · 30/03/2012 20:51

Erg, I hate the bedding insect cold callers. They are so rude. Especially when you don't see them until after you've ironed them. YANBU.

undercoverPrincess · 30/03/2012 20:53

I also HATE HATE HATE changing the top bunk.... YANBU

Chubfuddler · 30/03/2012 20:55

I'm splitting ds's bunk beds when we move shortly for this very reason.

wineoclocktimeyet · 30/03/2012 20:55

They are 7 and 5.

BigHairyFlowers - IRONING BEDDING- what is this ironing of which you speak????????

Grin wineoclock - it's the only time I get to watch TV!

GreatExpectations2012 · 31/03/2012 05:34

YANBU For this very reason DD on the bottom bunk has more frequent bedding changes than DS on the top bunk. I have to work myself up to doing it! Whatever happens do not strip the top bunk and then forget until bedtime. It will take hours to get that sheet on.

ClassFree · 31/03/2012 06:25

You have my sympathies OP! At one point in time I worked as cleaner, and had to make up 72 bunk beds in a day. I would get splinters from the chip board under the mattresses, and always knock knuckles at the corners of the frame. I hate making up bunk beds[grr]

TheArmadillo · 31/03/2012 07:14

Ds has a cabin bed - I've resorted to making dh do it.
Plus it has one of these on which doesn't help. Whose stupid idea was it to get that plus high sleeper? it was mine Hmm Grin

Plus its the trying to balance on something so I can reach the far corners of the bloody thing and have actually resorted to sitting on it and trying to change the bedding around me.

Megatron · 31/03/2012 07:29

*Nods sagely.

Yes I am familiar with your plight. Not a bunk bed but a cabin bed with a murderous mattress designed with a superfast springy effect. I will lose a finger or perhaps an entire hand one of these days.

fluffyliquorice · 31/03/2012 09:18

We got ds one a few months ago and I loathed doing it. Now our system is ds takes all covers off the bed, I then change duvet etc, then DH puts it all back on.
