The highlight of the Queen's day yesterday was being shown an exhibit of a preserved plastic bag and a spotty Mini. Charming, splendid etc. etc. Hmm

If I were the Queen I would be bored stupid. I bet she wishes she got up to more fun on official visits a' la Prince Harry in Jamaica. AIBU?

The Queen is an old lady, and prehaps is not physically up to such an active lifestyle. I am sure she is bored stupid, but so are a lot of us at work.

AKMD · 30/03/2012 09:48

I'm sure she could manage some steel pan drumming...

You'll have the mn anti queen brigade along in a minute to tell you how incredibly lucky an 85 year old woman is to have to work full time and pretend to be interested in this stuff.

AKMD · 30/03/2012 09:56

That's ok, they're the same ones who will be up in arms about retiring at 70, 'working us to the grave' etc. Like that isn't the norm for the majority of the world's population...

Honestly, I would prefer to go dragon boating (with someone else doing the rowing of course) at 85 and die from an accidental whack with an oar than to go to endless coffee mornings and exhibits that are so deadly dull that no one in their right mind would voluntarily go to them and live to 100.

She used to tour all these exotic countries she is an elderly lady in her 80s now maybe the carrier bags is all the excitment she can cope with these days Smile

Chubfuddler · 30/03/2012 10:01

I reckon prince Philip would be up for dragon boating. He'd probably still row.

AKMD · 30/03/2012 10:10

Prince Philip would make sure his boat won too.

Who'd be up for suggesting that she sack the Lord Lieutenant who thought that the plastic bag display was the best activity on offer? I'd be happy to fill the vacancy. Steel pans, dragon boating, maybe that guy who makes you lie down while a python slithers over your bare stomach... She'd love it.

I'm sure his dad wishes he was Harry

...and Princes Charles feels the same too.

ItsAroundHereSomewhere · 30/03/2012 17:12

Grin compos

I'd so do Prince Harry. That's quite wrong, isn't it? Blush

ComposHat · 30/03/2012 20:58

In a word...yes! Never got the whole ginger thing.

AKMD · 30/03/2012 21:03

Oh, I would definitely do Harry, much prefer him to William. He just looks so... Naughty WinkGrin

Lovecat · 30/03/2012 21:52

Ah, but the Queen also got the opportunity to wave at my DD (and a squillion other children) yesterday as she passed them in her limo en-route to the spotty mini. I'm sure that was really the highlight of her day :o

Lovecat · 30/03/2012 21:54

Aargh, pressed post too soon - we parents were also presented with a lovely photo today that their teacher had taken, of her Maj's disembodied hand as the car passed.

We will treasure it always.

southeastastra · 30/03/2012 21:55

i think it's dead sweet that that queen is visting little towns, yesterday she was in edgware where i live and i missed it!!

though am lost at what she was shown in edgware.. the discount topshop outlet maybe for kate

EchoBitch · 31/03/2012 00:36

I think she'd probably prefer to have been Princess Margaret.

EchoBitch · 31/03/2012 00:39

She's coming here soon....

Happily Sadly i have a colonic irrigation appointment that day so i will miss her visit.

ItsAroundHereSomewhere · 31/03/2012 06:42

I agree withMissTapestry that Harry just looks like he'd be v v naughty! Plus I find his confidence uber sexy so it's not really about his looks. Am mostly Blush because of how much younger than me he is!

I think Echo has it though that her Madge would rather have been Margaret. Without the raging alcoholism though probably.

somewherewest · 31/03/2012 08:22

Don't we all sometimes want to be Prince Harry? He certainly knows how to enjoy himself Grin. I'm quite anti-monarchist but I do think Harry would make a very entertaining toyboy monarch.

somewherewest · 31/03/2012 08:25

PS I'm Irish and Harry was just born to rule us if we weren't a republic.
