Catsdontcare I also really hate chillax! Is it ironic that the word chillax really winds me up? I also hate the phrase 'end of play'. What the ...? Why would a work day be considered play? Anyone who says OMG - what's that all about? wildfig , you had me laughing! That is annoying!
Great choices by Shanghaidiva. I also hate the words/phrases 'win-win', 'state-of-the-art' (What? State of what art?) and 'top of the range' (Top of whose range exactly? Complete and utter BS.

Quenelle · 29/03/2012 17:20

Lots of initialisms annoy me. When I watched ER I used to wonder why they said 'GSW'. It actually takes longer to say GSW than the actual words 'Gun Shot Wound'.

Sidge · 29/03/2012 17:36

I hate with a passion "Rant over".

I want to reach into the laptop and slap whoever posted it.

MoominmammasHandbag · 29/03/2012 17:46

Just cannot bear my teens saying "would of" instead of "would have". You have an A in GCSE english. You know it's wrong.and common

wildfig · 29/03/2012 17:56

I can't bear 'would of' either. And 'myself/yourself' makes my jaw clench, along with all business-speak. As you can imagine, watching The Apprentice practically requires a St John's Ambulance on standby.

ImJustSayingLike · 29/03/2012 19:51

myself/yourself is quite common in Ireland because of how Irish is translated to English, it's more of a direct translation.

ImJustSayingLike · 29/03/2012 19:53

chillax also makes me tense Grin

StealthPolarBear · 29/03/2012 19:56

Ooh yes, toolkit and pack, usd to describe a few diffwerent documnrts

OlympicEater · 29/03/2012 21:04

ImJustSayingLike - Irishers excused as I am one Grin - I think what wildfig may mean is sometimes people think it sounds more intelligent to use "myself" / "yourself" usually in e-mails / letters - along the lines of "please contact myself if you need further information"

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 29/03/2012 21:15

oh yes 'pack'
If you would like to look in your packs - you look down and find a small pile of A4.

How disappointing

cheekybarsteward · 29/03/2012 21:21

Am I the only person who hates "cook it off", "fry it off" ? When did chefs stop saying "cook it" or "fry it"? What is the "off" for? Confused

SarahRT · 29/03/2012 21:30

Ohhh Quenelle I agree. Sat through two hours of them today at a Mental Health Forum lead by some patronizing bureaucratic woman. By the end of it I needed therapy.

Hate hate hate, 'we will learn lessons from this', 'lightbulb moment', 'turn that frown upside down', anyone who calls me babe and worst of all, 'ya know'. No I don't bloody know!!!

totallyfrazzled · 29/03/2012 23:07

'Can I get' and 'to take out' ....haven't you noticed we are not living in New York ffs?????

It was like he.... I was so, like, blah blah AAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH

Also can't stand the voice rising at the end of the sentence, so everything sounds like a question even when it's not. Grrrrrrrrrrrh especially when my MIL in her mid sixties does it.......

Cherry picking, ball parking, pushing the envelope, take 5, my bad, get a wiggle on.... most of all those rubbish american corporate crappy nonsensical phrases

Oh yes ABSOLUTELY loathe incorrect use of reflexive pronoun....is that for yourself madam?

Think I am old fashioned !

JasperJohns · 29/03/2012 23:37

My boss says 'blue sky thinking', 'joined up thinking' and 'silo thinking'.

I am thinking about slapping her.

TerrierMalpropre · 29/03/2012 23:40

I'm still laughing at popbitch 2001. Hahahahahahaha.

TerrierMalpropre · 29/03/2012 23:41

Jasper Do it.

JasperJohns · 29/03/2012 23:48

Text. Ok we have made it into a noun. So can we at least apply tenses to it.

'he text me' - aaargh.

Thumbwitch · 29/03/2012 23:55

Jasper - you mean a verb Wink

Take-out is Scottish, isn't it? Or is that carry-out? Confused

NoMoreMarbles · 30/03/2012 00:13

i HATE "swings and roundabouts"...what the FARK does that mean exactly?!!

and

people that gesticulate alot...i was very nearly poked in the pissing EYE by a wildly gesticulating colleague earlier today...who the hell needs to ACT OUT their sentences about making a phone call?

JasperJohns · 30/03/2012 00:15

OMG Thumbwitch - yes I mean a verb!

LittleEsmeWeatherwax · 30/03/2012 03:09
