Standard toilet seats out to be outlawed in favour of softclose. That is all.

My DH, just before we got engaged, shared a flat with me and two other very scary girls. I would defy any male to leave the toilet set up when sharing with these two girls! So, this was good training for DH, and it's rubbed off on DS1 and DS2 - we always know when there's a non-Scholes male in the house.

One rule for all:

Close the lid.

Then you both have to lift to use it, you just the lid, him the seat. You very quickly get used to it.

YWBU to buy a seat that falls down, especially if you ever have a DS- messy!

Do you know that droplets of wee and water contaminated with fecal matter can land a few feet away from the toilet when you flush?

My family are trained to put the toilet lid down before flushing, so the loo seat is never an issue.

SydSaid · 28/03/2012 10:15

Which means that they can land on your toothbrush, your towels, and you!

TroublesomeEx · 28/03/2012 10:56

We are the same - toilet lid always goes down before flushing.

The children and DH are all very well trained in this matter.

'fecal matter'

LizzieMint73 · 28/03/2012 12:34

I am really not bothered about the position of the toilet seat and think that those (usually) women who go on and on about it should concentrate their energies on something a bit more important - just put it down if needs be before you go? The splashing of fecal matter is probably a red herring perpetuated by germ phobics.

Having said that I try to always put the lid down as if not the cats drink out of it and one of them is quite elderly and not very steady on his feet and has been known to fall in!
