unutterably creepy. Makes my skin crawl, this fine weather means they're everywhere too. Am I alone in feeling this? Bleurgh.

I can handle them in Birkenstocks, but in Havaianas? Ick.

Fine for the beach, silly anywhere else. That goes for men and women.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 27/03/2012 11:41

Agree....men wearing flip flops is wrong wrong wrong!! I have a list of things DH cant wear (tongue in cheek of course) which is:-

Flip flops/sandals of any form
PJ's
Dressing gown

All of the a total turn off!

memphis83 · 27/03/2012 11:44

I totally agree, horrible, hairy creep men feet should be hidden away in shoes! He had to choose me or the flip flops when we first moved in together!

LucyManga · 27/03/2012 11:44

I dont really like sandals of any description on men, but hey ho, if its hot and their feet are hot, fair enough, I suppose...

DH is surgically attached to his dressing gown Wink

iseenodust · 27/03/2012 11:47

YANBU Flip flops only acceptable on a beach.

Mrsjay · 27/03/2012 11:58

Repulsive as i said on another thread i have a foot phobia , and men in shorts and hairy feet in flip flops is just awful , please dont fellas put them away shudder

squoosh · 27/03/2012 11:59

Yeah maybe it's the pale hairy toes or maybe it's because men have bigger feet so they kind of splodge over the sides.

Plus ths sound of flip flops flipping and flopping sends me into a murderous rage.

OP posts:
Mrsjay · 27/03/2012 12:01

oh yes splodging over is vile they have big toes and its all just URGH !! my dh has slip on sandals for the beach thats where he is allowed to wear them , or going round a campiste but he must wear socks i dont care t if it looks daft .

jumpingjackhash · 27/03/2012 12:03

I don't mind flip flops (or anything else) if the feet they're on are well maintained. It makes me boak when I see gross, mangled feet with skanky nails and an abundance of hard skin out in public - and that goes for men and women.

lisaro · 27/03/2012 12:04

Ew! Frankly, Birkenstocks are even worse.

AnyFucker · 27/03/2012 12:04

gawd, I was just about to bite into my cheese toastie then Shock

noddyholder · 27/03/2012 12:05

I love my dp in his! He does have lovely smooth feet though and nice nails. What else can men wear in summer?

SoupDragon · 27/03/2012 12:06

Anyone wearing flip-flops if they aren't on the beach is unutterably creepy.

Flipflops are not for everyday wear - get some sandals people!

AwkwardMary · 27/03/2012 12:06

My DH is Aussie and would not wear ANY shoes if it were warm enough here...I dont mind flip flops at all but DH has nicer feet than me! They are not hairy, they are tanned and slim...mine are proper Irish feet...white and wide and crooked...meant for peasanting around squelchy fields...not trotting on clean warm sand!

EnjoyResponsibly · 27/03/2012 12:08

Flip flops fine.

Espadrilles utterly not fine, crime against shoes, punishable by death.

HTH

LiviaAugusta · 27/03/2012 12:08

I'd rather DH wear flip flops than his other two options:

  • trainers with socks (usually white sports socks pulled up as high as they'll go)
  • trainers or shoes with no socks (stinky, and seeing shoes without socks under trousers makes me feel queasy)
DH's feet aren't pretty and I hate feet in general but don't have a problem with flip flops.
AwkwardMary · 27/03/2012 12:09

Ooh I totally agree about the dressing gown! Men in them is wrong! Why? It might be the thought of their bare arse underneath? Balls-a-danglin'....wrong!¬

squoosh · 27/03/2012 12:09

I hear ya AwkwardMary, I am afflicted with Irish hands, or paws is a better description. Designed for scooping potatoes out of the ground, not for taking afternoon tea.

AnyFucker · 27/03/2012 12:11

I think you lot are mean

let the menfolk wear what they want

I love flip flops myself (good ones, not crap ones...although I suppose even expensive good ones are crap Smile ), the flip-flop sound reminds me of holidays and hot weather, and I don't mind blokes with reasonably cared-for feet in them as long iIdon't have to get too close

not in March though, there has to be no "R" in the month Smile

AwkwardMary · 27/03/2012 12:12

squoosh me too! I have knuckles like plums!

MsVestibule · 27/03/2012 12:12

No problem with MrV wearing flip flops or a dressing gown. I draw the line at pyjamas, though.

NarkedPuffin · 27/03/2012 12:13

I so wanted this to be 'AIBU to find men wearing flip flops ....

... strangely erotic?'

YANBU though.

AnyFucker · 27/03/2012 12:13

I have a treasured photograph of DH in a dressing gown dangling a child on his knee

there is also a hairy bollock peeking through a gap in the dressing gown Grin

AwkwardMary · 27/03/2012 12:15

Agree on the cheap flip flops AF if I see one more person in a pair of Primark 99p numbers with a bloody Maxi Dress (said in a simpering voice) I will start a one woman campaign....Maxi dresses do NOT hide fat arses (I know as I have one) they just make em look bigger.

Lambzig · 27/03/2012 12:15

Bettyswallocks what does your husband wear to make the tea in the morning? Do you make him get dressed straight away?

Dont mind flipflops on men at all, but dont like sandaly sandals on men, particularly the sporty type. Do agree that feet need to be nice, moisturised, clean trimmed nails though. I hate the thought of sweaty feet in trainers - what are they supposed to wear?

My ex used to have a toes phobia, I could never wear open toe shoes and he would have to change tube carriages if there was someone with red painted toenails.
