unutterably creepy. Makes my skin crawl, this fine weather means they're everywhere too. Am I alone in feeling this? Bleurgh.

I can handle them in Birkenstocks, but in Havaianas? Ick.

I live in Oz, and ALL men wear flip flops (thongs here), you wouldn't survive 5 minutes. My dh is 40, and he owns a pair now. Would never had thought he'd buy a pair in a million years!!!!!

bettybat · 27/03/2012 15:15

sqoosh it's really obvious you're not going to get it, and your low level sarcasm is just meh. So I shan't try Grin I'll enjoy my barefootedness, and you enjoy your shoes.

squoosh · 27/03/2012 15:19

Oh God, the toe shoes!!! Creepy guy I work with wears them, they freak me out more than flip flops! Grin

It?s not the being barefoot, it?s being barefoot on a city street. Anytime I see someone walking along the streets shoeless in the summertime I just think they?re attention seeking. ?Here I am world, a sprite, a nymph, not for me to be bound by the shackles of footwear?. To avoid all the glass and grit and other people?s clod hoppers you must need to look intently at the footpath at all times.

I too like to be barefoot on the grass and when I?m at home but on a city street, nah. The Barefoot Contessa, I've always wondered who she is, is she your leader?

Here in San Diego we wear them year round.

"Anytime I see someone walking along the streets shoeless in the summertime I just think they?re attention seeking. "

Or you could just like going barefoot because it feels good.
It isn't hard to miss the crud, doesn't take a lot of attention.

Hopandaskip · 27/03/2012 16:36

Oh and my 11yr old has two pairs of toe shoes, he LOVES them, says they are incredibly comfortable. He also has flip-flops.

ComposHat · 27/03/2012 16:49

As a male I can tell you that my feet are in a better state than most women I know, especially those who have spent a lifetime forcing them into ill fitting pointy toed high heels. In sine cases their toes look a twisted mess of bone and calluses.

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2012 16:55

Note to all men-

I do not want to see your manky feet ever.

Nor your bare chest IN MARCH. Or any other month for that matter.

Just bleurgh.

sozzledchops · 27/03/2012 17:09

We are flip flop couple, what else do you wear in hot weather that is comfortable and doesn't sweat and stink, saying that we did use to live in flip flop land for a while. Used to even wear them out clubbing years ago so ner!

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2012 17:12

DH wears trainers and trainer socks. He would be the first to admit he wouldn't want to inflict his feet on innocent strangers. Grin

janelikesjam · 27/03/2012 17:24

I would never trust a man in flipflops. Too "Nathan Barley".

Aren't they bad for your feet anyway?

noddyholder · 27/03/2012 17:24

What are toe shoes?

Thomcat · 27/03/2012 17:27

Nothing wrong with a man in flip flops. If there is the problem is with the rest of the man, not that he's wearing flip flops.

I'd rather have a man in Havianas than 'sensible sandals'

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2012 17:29

But I don't want to see a stranger's 'man feet' Thomcat. Sad

NowThenWreck · 27/03/2012 17:42

I have orangey red toenails. Smile

Lets face it though, the Brits do not know how to dress for warm weather. The City of London will be swarming with girls in 'orrible black synthetic fibre office skirts teamed with white blouses and manky flip flops.
And don't get me started on shirtless men in the street...aaaarrggh.

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2012 17:46

Thank you NowThen. When is a half naked man in the street acceptable? Never!
