Like putting my washing on the line in the sunshine
Enjoying a coffee and toast in peace.
To forget how lush toasted tea cakes are
to coming home smelling tea bubbling away in the slow cooker after a 12 hour work day.
To seeing an empty washing basket
Putting away clean ironed clothes
Hearing birds singing their heads off when i have time to walk to school instead of driving to save time
Clean fresh bedding & clean fresh pj's
An unexpected good filum on telly on a Saturday night

And what made my week, was ds (aged 8) on his way out into the garden last night after tea saying "thanks for alovely tea mum" after a sunday roast.

Simple pleasures..
what simple pleasures do you love?

YANBU at all. What a lovely thread! And how sweet your DS sounds Smile

My list would include:

Hugs from my DP
Tea and cake
Having a shower with lovely fruity/floral shower gel
Clean sheets night
Walking to work while listening to the radio
Seeing daffodils and crocuses in the park
Playing with babies/little children at work
Lying in bed next to DP, feeling all warm and toasty and thinking how lucky we are and how many people don't have even these simple comforts
Watching 'The Wire' 10 years late - in terms of gorgeous looking men it's the gift that keeps on giving Wink

when I brush my dog I put the hair in a pot in the garden. I love watching the birds when they take it for their nests. One even uses his (probably her), leg to hold it down while he/she pulls it out with its beak. Goldinches yesterday.

Oh yes, clean bedding and pj's Grin
getting to the bottom of the pile of ironing
watching my 13 week old fall asleep whilst BF
the sparkle in my DH eyes when we share a private "look" over something someone has said
the joy on my Gran's face when my brother and I told her we would each be providing her with a Great Grandson's within 3 months of each other Grin

whatsallthefuss · 26/03/2012 11:12

oh yes.... yes yes yes!

mrsnesbit · 26/03/2012 11:16

teeny tiny postit note from ds this morning..just found it stuck on his door "i love you mum, i love you so much love from ds"

awww.

He made a "shop" out of a huge cardbourd box, he carefully closed the top on it and wrote "staf oneley" on it in crayon. a can od "cock" was 29p in his shop, as written on the side of it.

Watching my little boys (aged 2&6) holding hands as we go for a walk through the fields near our house. Took a lovely photo of them last week walking along together Smile

What a nice thread...

Completely agree about freshly laundered sheets.
A mug of tea and radio 4, when my 10 month old DS is napping.
Dinner cooked for me by DP.
Family cuddles in bed on a weekend.
Cheese and pickle sandwiches.
DS flopping over my lap and "hugging" me...that one gets me every time!

taxiforme · 26/03/2012 12:03

Lovely and very grounding!!

iget I am going to do the nest thing and mrsnesbit me and my friend are putting in our orders for the 29p can of cock!!

Clean sheets on the bed
Smell of fresh coffee
Finding a free parking space
The smell of my dogs' ears
New fresh note pads and a new pencil case at the start of term (though havent used one/been there since 1983)
new shoes
Smell of ambre solere sun oil
My DSD bringing me a cup of tea on sunday morning
my cat's purr

Picnics

Sootie · 26/03/2012 12:20

Waking up every morning to my 11 week old coo-ing and aah-ing
The smell of freshly cut grass early in the morning
The sound of wood pigeons in my garden in the morning
(Weird one) the faint sound of motorbikes passing on the main road behind our house - I only hear them in late Spring for some reason and I love hearing them.
After having her lunch just now, DD gave me a hug and kiss and said "That's what friends are for"!!

Also agree about the fresh sheets on the bed!

Wretched · 26/03/2012 12:23

A baby who slept nine til eight with only one feed.
Waking dd1 up in the morning with a cuddle and a sunny day.
Garden looking lovely after the weekends efforts.
Morning shag with DH ( thanks to kids sleeping in!) Blush

fab thread!

an early morning walk in the autumn, when the leaves have turned brown and orange and you can smell bonfires in the air.

sitting on the decking in the garden, drinking a coffee in peace.

the smell of vanilla candles in my home (after i have cleaned it from top to bottom - although this is a rare thing now that i have a toddler!)

my mother in laws roast dinners.

god there's loads, i'll have to have a proper think.

Poledra · 26/03/2012 22:30

DD3 creeping into bed with me on Friday mornings when DH leaves for work early and cuddling in next to me with a sleepy 'I love you, mummy'.
