...they actually came to live with you!

I would love to have a tiger, and would happily adopt one, if only dh would let me keep it in the garden.

YANBU

I'd like a chimpanzee

SparkyMcSparrow · 25/03/2012 16:35

You'll only love it until it eats your kids Hmm

...or maybe thats the plan Grin

AKMD · 25/03/2012 16:41

YABU. A reasonable level of excitement would be attained by being able to adopt an actual, named animal so you can say, "look, LOOK, that's MY tiger!" rather than some random tiger out of the 8 at the safari park and you know it's just being pooled and spread out between them, but hey here's a fluffy tiger toy and a fact sheet to make it up to you.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/03/2012 16:44

Darnit, Sparky, I didn't expect anyone to rumble that part of my fiendish plan so quickly!! Grin

Personally I would like a golden lion tamarin (sp?). It could live in my pocket and I'd wear it as a scarf in winter.

TidyDancer · 25/03/2012 16:57

I have a sponsored penguin. I would be thrilled if he came to live with me!

Faverolles · 25/03/2012 17:00

YANBU. We adopted a polar bear for ds2 at Christmas.
He thought we were going to go to the arctic circle in our car to find one and bring it home.
He was gutted that he only had a cuddly toy, photo and online access to photos of his polar bear.

bettybat · 25/03/2012 17:03

YADBU! I would love to adopt a tiger, orangutan, snow leopard, penguin, bear, and pretty much any other animal that needs protecting. Can you imagine ACTUALLY HAVING THEM? Too exciting for words.

bettybat · 25/03/2012 17:03

Sorry - definitely NOT being unreasonable :)

Anniegetyourgun · 25/03/2012 17:06

Apparently at Jersey Zoo they had to stop people interacting with the golden lion tamarins because far too many people were trying to do just that.

TunipTheVegemal · 25/03/2012 17:07

YABU, because DD nagged me for ages about wanting to adopt a snow leopard and only stopped when I explained that you didn't actually get to keep the leopard. If it worked the way you are proposing she would still be on about it now.

AKMD · 25/03/2012 17:08

For TidyDancer.

TidyDancer · 25/03/2012 17:43

Ooh, is that good? Looks like something DS and I would both love!

CheshireDing · 25/03/2012 18:26

I have room for a Tapir, the dog would be SO excited Grin

Rollersara · 25/03/2012 18:34

YANBU. Although I don't know how my polar bear would get on with DP's penguin. Or where I'd keep the dolphins.

MissTapestry · 25/03/2012 18:35

Annie twasnt me Grin

MissTapestry · 25/03/2012 18:37

Ooh, a tapir would be cool, if you got one that was big enough you could ride it to the co-op!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/03/2012 18:40

YABU- my DD adopted a dolphin.
I'm not having some Flipper impersonator doing tail walks and back flips in my bath.

It would use all my L'Occitane bathgel, the greedy fecker.

ProfessorSunny · 25/03/2012 18:44

OP, it'd be great if you could adopt an animal for somebody else and send it to live with them, oh the possibilities! Child A bullying your child; adopt a tiger for them for their birthday, problem solved :)

McFluffster · 25/03/2012 19:07

I quite often tell my dogs all about the jaguar I am planning to adopt when they misbehave.

They don't understand me and my DH thinks I'm a loon but it makes me feel better.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/03/2012 14:04

70isaLimit - you could put your nice bathgels etc in the bathroom cabinet. A dolphin is lacking in the opposible thumbs department, so wouldn't be able to get them out!

ProfessorSunny - I like your thinking - only I'd have the tiger myself, and send them a very irritable family of skunks!! evilGrin
