To wish that the F1 coverage would go back to the way it was?

Martin Brundle is on Sky, no David Coulthard. Then Damon Hill sometimes appears.

It's just not the same is it? Highlights on BBC1 this afternoon when you know the result anyway. Sad

Never been to a race. Practice Friday at Silverstone is the closest I have got. Sad

Have been to Monaco though and stayed at the Loews hotel (back in the days when it was the Loews Hairpin) can't remember what it's called now.

I went in 2007, Kimi won then too Grin We'd packed all our wet weather gear ready to get rained on, because it always rains at Spa. It was sunny all weekend. I was a bit worried that DH would get bored but he's really into F1 now.

Sparkling- I still call it Loews Hairpin, no idea what it's called now.

We can't afford to go to F1 races any more, the Renault World Series is the closest we get.

melika · 28/03/2012 09:06

Yep, OP, wish it was back to the way it was. For the past two races, Australia and Malaysia we have had news black out in our house in case someone mentions the result. Fed up with it.

And yet we have football, football and more football on our screeens all the time. It's making DH into a very GOM.

Conchita · 28/03/2012 09:29

don't wish to commit a sacrilege but I hate Silverstone. Went to one race there, Hakkinen won and it was just the dullest. Also went to Monaco with a bunch of Italians to witness a Ferrari one-two (Schumacher Irvine)- Happy Days. In those days you could pay about 100 Francs to find somewhere to sit in the mountain above the track and see everything. If you went really high up you could watch for free

NettoSuperstar · 28/03/2012 09:52

I got utterly drenched Eaurouge, got a bit drunk, fell down the muddy hill, peed in bushes and got to stand right in front of the podium with my boy on the top step.
Best day of my lifeGrin

Glittertwins · 28/03/2012 09:55

I got horrendously sunburnt at the last French GP

EauRouge · 28/03/2012 12:48

I ate too many waffles and got a taste for chips and mayo. Did you go to the Schumacher museum in Kerpen? We tried to go and it was closed. The day after Spa. Idiots. The managers I mean, not the Schumachers. Well, maybe Ralf.

helenthemadex · 28/03/2012 12:51

glittertwins this is the link I used;

www.vipbox.tv/watch/32669/1/sky-sports-f1-channel-launch.html

I didnt download anything, a few wrong clicks opened other windows but just close them down and you will come to the screen with the channel on, interesting thing with Lewis on at the moment

Atreegrowsinbrooklyn · 28/03/2012 13:03

We hate the new coverage but absolutely refuse to make the Murkydochs any richer by subscribing to S(p)Y...

I used to love snuggling up to DH in bed watching the 4 a.m coverage at weekends with the lights off and the rest of the house asleep. As it finished, we'd go back to sleep for a couple of hours. Am I alone in my enjoyment of this?

Am planning special surprise for DH because we have friends living in Austin who have invited us to stay during the USA F1 race period. Am getting us tickets to go. So excited!

Glittertwins · 28/03/2012 13:27

Thanks Helen, will try it on pc as it doesn't support ipad

Glittertwins · 28/03/2012 13:35

Has the coverage now moved on to Ferrari?

NettoSuperstar · 28/03/2012 17:46

No, just bussed in for the race and straight back out.
I did one of those coach trips from London, and had to get the coach from Glasgow first.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 28/03/2012 17:47

GiserableMitt · 28/03/2012 19:11

I also love Martin Brundle and for rude all the wrong reasons. and I'm old enough for it not to be a perversion

oldsilver · 28/03/2012 20:37

helenthemadex · 28/03/2012 20:46

Glittertwins · 29/03/2012 11:35

ScarlettInSpace · 29/03/2012 11:43

I just saw the words 'real life movie channel' on page 1
I have seen this yet. How have I missed it?

NoMoreInsomnia12 · 29/03/2012 11:47

I don't really notice any difference, but then I don't find I pay much attention these days because much of it is rather po-faced and boring. The highlights on BBC look just like the live race, so as long as you don't hear the result first you can watch it as live. Personally I listen to the results and a short synopsis of the race first to see if it's worth watching, as so many races aren't.

And David Coulthard can cock off.

Conchita · 29/03/2012 15:09

pompous gnome- yes!

DialsMavis · 29/03/2012 15:58

DP knows Jake and Eddie, one of them is an arse and one of them is very lovely apparently

NettoSuperstar · 29/03/2012 16:31

I need to know which is which.
Please find out for me.
I secretly love Eddie, he cracks me up, but I like Jake too.

Sorry ScarlettInSpace, I must apologise to your family in advance.
They will not thank you for watching RL movies. DD hates it, I am sadly addicted to those crap films Blush

Sparklingbrook · 29/03/2012 16:41

Eddie=Arse (and bad dress sense)

Jake= Very lovely

That's how I would like it to be. Wink
