Every single day when I'm driving there is always:

-Someone who drives 20mph under the speed limit
-Someone who drives 20mph over the speed limit and hugs my bumper
-People who don't indicate at roundabouts/junctions
-People who do not know how to use a roundabout - you give way to the right therefore there is no need to just sit there when the right hand is being blocked by oncoming traffic therefore you can go! Angry
-People who do not use their lights - hello? I cannot see you (especially in the fog we had the other week)
-People who don't bother to move in traffic and cause an even bigger hold up, when there is a huge gap in front of them. Please. Move. Up.
-Those big bloody 4x4 cars that always seem to hug my bumper
-People who drive all over the road/on the white lines/on the verge of the road - why can't you drive in the middle like everyone else
-People that cut you up - I'm sorry but you are aware that I am coming towards you, why are you pulling out which then requires me to brake from my 40mph to your measly 10mph whilst you try and build your speed up.

Tbh, I don't care if I'm being unreasonable - these things hassle me on a day to day basis and I am fed up!

:o

I had a van this morning - was getting ready to cross the road, car indicating to turn into the junction (turning right into it), just turned in. van pulled up behind, as i was starting to walk across, turned into the junction soooo quickly, he was practically touching the first car's bumper. Obviously deliberate to make sure I didn't cross in front of him.
170 - allow pedestrians to cross
(i was definitely on the road, so classed as started to cross)

I had to go to Tesco this morning.

On the way there I saw;
every other car with no lights on - despite there being thick fog on part of the journey

2 cars swerved into my path to overtake bicycles.

1 car decided to overtake a stationery (ary?) vehicle despite the fact that I was actually going past the vehicle at the time. (opposite side of the road. My way was clear)

a woman decided to push her pushchair out from behind a parked van, into my path as she tried to cross a busy road from behind a van, in order that she didn't have to walk the 1 minute down to the pedestrian crossing.

On the way back
a couple were crossing a little duel carriageway, with their great bid dog rushing round their feet. They crossed in front of oncoming traffic.
A car failed to indicate that it was turning left, meaning I lost my chance to turn also.
A car failed to stop at the give way line, and cut me up.

I hate people.

I'd love to say this was out of the ordinary, but this is pretty much par for the course.

stationary. since you ask Wink
stationery would be carrying pens Grin

People who beep their horn. I don't get it. I've never beeped my horn in 10 yrs of driving, even when people have almost hit my car (I'm usually too busy concentrating on avoiding the accident to think about the horn!). It's largely unneccesary. It's fine if it's a true warning but often it's just a retalitation after the moment has passed and it really disturbs other road users and the surrounding neighbourhood. Even as a pedestrian trying to have a peaceful walk to work, listening to cars and their road rage at 8am is horrible. Hate it.

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2012 17:23

I thought your horn was for telling people that the traffic lights had changed to green and they hadn't moved for a nanosecond. Sad

JarethTheGoblinKing · 24/03/2012 17:36

Your horn is to make other drivers aware of your presence (though I do sometime beep when a passenger appears to have fallen asleep and hasn't noticed the lights - only after a significant time has passed though, not a nanosecond Grin

I beep my horn in situations like people trying to change lanes into the space I'm occupying (while avoiding them as well, obviously). If I have to make a dodgy manoeuvre to avoid some tit who's trying to crash into me it alerts other drivers as well.

I have used it before when I saw a kid about to step off the pavement into the road in front of me (wouldn't have been able to stop in time, it was literally a metre in front of me! - he wasn't looking where he was going and jumped backwards onto the pavement quick as anything :) )

Using the wrong lane Angry
Roundabout near me has 5 exits. As you approach the left hand lane has a left arrow. Not a straight on. Not a use it for the second/third exit
So I use the correct lane and end up with people coming across in front of me because the are using the left arrow lane for the third exit!!
And tailgaters. And people who don't indicate. Or do indicate but only after slamming on their brakes and starting to turn

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 24/03/2012 19:11

Yes to non-indicators.

Yes to tailgating - they do get their comeuppance sometimes (about a year ago, 20mph outside our school, sheet ice, white van vs our Volvo - guess which was the write-off and which had barely a scratch Grin).

But I did use my horn the other day when the behind me decided to try to overtake into oncoming traffic and then had to cut right in front so's i had to slam on brakes.

Sootie · 24/03/2012 19:16

I hate the drivers that go down my road and the road where my DD's nursery is at about 35-40 mph when it is a 20mph road. I have a 4 year old DD - she could run out on to the road at any time (even though I hold her hand tight!). I never drive above 20mph in a residential area; you just never know when a child may run onto the road, but some people just have no fear.

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2012 19:18

It's a free for all at mini roundabouts round here. Like first come first served really, or just pretend they aren't there. Angry
