Although not Mary in them Grin
Seriously, I rather like the black and cream ones.

I like the fact they are 100% British made. I am rather tempted myself.

beachyhead · 22/03/2012 21:56

It's not going well though, is it!!

TheCrackFox · 22/03/2012 22:01

I will definitely buy a pair. I think they look nice and a tenner seems an ok price.

warmandwooly · 22/03/2012 22:14

I like the idea of buying British. If the range expands then I would consider buying them.

Bearcrumble · 22/03/2012 22:15

Did anyone read Private Eye about this? Apparently other UK knicker makers are very pissed off - including one brand that hired her company Yellow Door as consultants and had the gimmick of putting the machinist's name on the label which she's totally ripped off.

shodatin · 22/03/2012 22:52

I didn't know women were still wearing non-cotton knickers, and wouldn't want nylon type again.

Freshlettice · 23/03/2012 07:06

Wow, didn't know about the other firms being peed off, maybe I'll think again then.
They have cotton gussets, so not all over nylon. Although I do usually wear cotton ones with a lacy trim. I just liked the shape of them, quite substantial without being those awful hi-leg things.

I liked them, especially the black and cream - I hated the name though "Kinky Knickers"? :(

I like the "Love your country" in the gusset though, and retro branding. £10 is a good price too and I like the idea of buying British and not from a sweatshop

AFuckingKnackeredWoman · 23/03/2012 07:13

They are called Mary?s Kinky Knickers.

Hideous name and for that alone, I'm out!

SoupDragon · 23/03/2012 07:15

Kinky Knickers? Who on earth thought that was a good idea? That would stop me buying them too. That and the nylon thing.

startwig1982 · 23/03/2012 07:17

£10 for a pair of knickers???? Are they made of spider silk or something? Hmm

diddl · 23/03/2012 07:22

10GBP for a pair of pants??

Dear Lord!

DoodleAlley · 23/03/2012 07:28

They looked really nice quality but agree with comments about the brand name. Just not nice!

peggyblackett · 23/03/2012 07:28

YABU. Buy them from 'Who Made Your Pants?'. They've been making 'ethical' pants in their Southampton factory for a lot longer than old Mary has. They employ only women, giving opportunities to women who have had a hard time.

Their pants are really lovely. Oh and £10 is how much pants cost if you want the person who made them to be paid a fair price - just as I'd expect you'd want to be paid a fair price for your work startwig

peggyblackett · 23/03/2012 07:33

bearcrumble, I saw that - it was Becky Johnson from Who Made Your Pants?

Hopefully it will prove good advertising for Becky's social enterprise :).

SoupDragon · 23/03/2012 07:37

From the Who Made Your Pants website "All our pants are made from upcycled traditional synthetic lingerie materials,"

Not a chance.

peggyblackett · 23/03/2012 07:59

Soupy what would you want them made from (for that price)? Cotton?

AFuckingKnackeredWoman · 23/03/2012 08:07

peggy: For 18 quid and up i would expect cotton and hand made by blind nuns!

peggyblackett · 23/03/2012 08:20

Heck - their prices have upped massively since I last bought from them. Agree £18 is ouch. However, I suspect that this is how much it costs to make them Sad.

nenevomito · 23/03/2012 08:29

£18 for a pair of knickers Shock

peggyblackett · 23/03/2012 08:36

Mind you - how much do women pay for knickers from myla, agent provocateur and Aubade? Probably twice that.

TheBigJessie · 23/03/2012 08:57

Well, the last time I bought underwear was between 2004 and 2006, and none of it was expensive, so theoretically could I justify spending that much on fair-trade underwear that supports the British economy?

But I certainly wouldn't buy "Kinky Knickers" or synthetic materials...

SoupDragon · 23/03/2012 09:06

"Soupy what would you want them made from (for that price)? Cotton?"

Price has got nothing to do with it. I wouldn't buy synthetic knickers.

LaurieFairyCake · 23/03/2012 09:14

I've bought 2 pairs of Marys knickers, they're coming in today's post.

I love the idea of buying British and I don't like the ethical and environmental problems of cheap cotton.

I think £10 is a good price, the Guy from Liberty last night they were great quality so I will be very happy if they last.

TheBigJessie · 23/03/2012 09:14

Just looked at the site. There's a range of prices. Cheapest is £12.50. But it's all very lacy and lingerie-style.
