To think that Four Rooms could have been just a little more discreet ?

We were glad to see it back on our screens & settled down to enjoy....me and my DD(15) and DS(10).

One of the items for sale was an antique dildo. And once they'd introduced it, it was all "dildo, dildo, dildo" for the next 10 minutes. I knew the inevitable was coming and sure enough my DS piped up "What's that?". Before I had a chance to reply (not quite sure what I would've answered btw), the narrator helpfully added "...it's a sex toy".

I'm no prude by any means but it was just grating on me every time they mentioned the 'd' word, which felt like about 30 times in 5 minutes.

It's not even after the watershed!

Did anyone else feel the same ?

Dear God - it was unbelievable ! I was watching it with my 10 year old ds and they said sex toy before I had a chance to turn over - it was 20 past bloody 8!!!!!

Ds was still talking about it this morning and asking questions and usually I am really open with him but fudged it completely and said - I'm not sure what it was

Luckily my DS seemed to get really engrossed in a game of Fifa 11 shortly after and he hasn't mentioned it since.

Yeah, there was no warning whatsoever and it's usually a totally safe 'family' programme.

And then there was loads of innuendo as (I think I am right in saying) 3 of the dealers are gay men. It was all "It looks like Jeff has his eye on this item" and "Well, it's only 6 inches, it's not what I'm used to" nudge nudge.

I just gave up in the end and rolled my eyes when one said "I would have bought it for £3,000 as I know the biggest dildo collector in Belgium"

They could've easily still showed this item without actually naming it and going on and ON about what it was! Epic fail

YANBU - We were watching it with our 9yr old & were both cringing, squirming & swapping worried glances & I had mentally prepared an innocuous reply to the inevitable "Muuuummm whats a Dildo" question & we are pretty laid back with such stuff, so I don't doubt it was OTT for a lot of parents

Funny though, we never got the expected question & we got a similar response to you valium "This is great, I love this, much better than antique road show"

My ds(9) is at the stage where anything sexual makes him screw is face up and make ewugh noises so my dd(12) found it really funny. Ds had just asked what a dildo was when the voice said sex toy, we just cracked up.
