In the past 2 months both by uncle and my grandmother have died. I have called in favours to avoid taking dd out of school for the funerals but I want to take her for the internment of the ashes. I have spoken to her teacher who said she won't be missing anything.

Her head teacher though has refused saying she can only have a day which wouldn't be physically possible with the distance we would need to travel. Aibu to take her anyway?

No I would take her, clearly it's a very sad time for your family and she needs to be there. So sorry for your loss

How old is your daughter? Does she have good attendance in general?

I imagine the head is thinking of the attendance figures. I think you should push this and ask them to reconsider.

Having just seen the school holiday threads I feel the need to say I'm not trolling I promise.
