BLOW YOUR FECKING NOSE!!!!

I can cope with little sniffs.

BUT people with colds/really snotty noses, honestly it makes me wretch as the sniff it up and swallow...

I blow in public and sniff in private (sometimes).

I find very enthusiastic nose blowers as off-putting as sniffers TBH.

There are no culture things, persistant conditions or MH issues, just someone who sniffs constantly!

Oh I can't stand it. I had to grit my teeth in a meeting when someone kept sniffing. Do they not realise???
My dh sniffs when he gets tired. He'll come to bed and start up. It's vile. He stops when I remind him but I'm so sensitive to it.

My poor boss has rhinitis, but his sniffing drives me nuts!!

I know he can't help it, but when your trying to concentrate on month end figures and in the back ground all you hear is "sniff sniff......"

I am dreading the hay fever season in a few weeks time :(

OMG my teen sniffing when he has a runny nose is almost as gross and irritating as him wiping it on his sleeve. Blow the ruddy thing.

I hate it with a passion. In my office (London) so many people do it that it seems like it's an acceptable thing to do... but for me I would like to smash their head when they do it.

It is really fucking irritating and it makes me feel sick when I’m eating.

I hate it. And being pregnant with a cold, so I can't take my usual otrivine which I mainline at any hint of a sniffle, I am doubly conscious that the person I hate most right now is ME!!!

Ms Velvet -at last somebody nonjudgemental. There are many medical conditions that cause the sniffing including severe deviated septums. I just cannot get my head round how so many people on here are so critical. Everybody has some faults just check how YOU might repulse someone!!

OP a very common tic is sniffing.

Both my boys have had it ( they really suffer with tics) and throat clearing as well.

I dread it when adults around them bitch about their sniffing.

Sniffing constantly is gross. I don't understand why they don't just blow their nose. Weirdly I've noticed all my friends who smoke sniff all the time, maybe it's linked?

Sometimes I get mucous but it's always near the back, never the front. I've tried blowing it but it never comes out and sniffing it back is more effective. Same with that post nasal drip when you're ill. No-one wants that do they, but it's a choice between snorking it all down or having a gunky sore throat. If you can blow a post nasal drip out of your nostrils, I'm impressed, but I can't.

I'm only a sniffer when I'm ill but if some stranger tried to force a tissue on me with "you need this", my reply would not be polite or apologetic. How rude can you be.

The only time I was ever able to blow my nose effectively was when I had sinusitis but tbh that was rivers of pus and blood exiting my face every 10 minutes regardless of my blowing activities so I don't think it counts anyway (Funnily enough people complained about that too).

I think some of you need to get over it instead of making people feel bad about something they can't help.
