To stop TTC in March to avoid a Christmas baby?

According to the due date calculator on MN, my next due date (if we were to conceve this month) would be 23rd December.

We started trying for DC2 a couple of months ago and agreed we'd have a break in March. I feel a Christmas birthday must be a bit rubbish for a child. But then I do want a baby as early in the academic year as possible. Also, once you're on the ttc train, it seems a bit weird to get off for a month...

WWYD?

i have 2 christmas babies..my second child's birthday is 18/12 and my youngest was born on 13/12 just past...and i just loved having my 2 little christmas newborns...everything was lovely
the house was buzzing,,this year there were christmas cards, 6th birthday cards and newborn baby boy cards everywhere
my daughter doesn't mind her christmas birthday...she gets presents for both, a (small) party ,sometimes it snows and when she was 4 Santa happened to arrive in school on her birthday. he sang happy birthday to her and she was so delighted! She gets to spend her birthday money on clothes in the january sales. Unfortunately my eldest son ( september birthday) is a little annoyed that he doesn't share their birth month too lol !
i say just go for it!

my Dsis best friend is a 23 Dec birthday and they ago all out for her, they are a right bunch of glamourpusses and they get dolled up and have a big do in town for her, another one who goes for the sparkliness.

my AF arrived today which would give me a boxing day bubba if it works this month (16 months down the line Sad). I am actually quite excited about it Smile

I would LOVE a christmas baby. If I manage to concieve this month the due date would be around christmas and I'm really excited about it..

My birthday, my brothers birthday and my DH's birthday (which is actually xmas eve) are all in december and we all love it! We've never had a problem with seperating our birthdays from christmas (even DH) and they all feel really special.

If anything, I'd avoid a january birthday. Worst month ever. Pg, uncomfortable and can't drink on christmas day, and no one would have any money for DC's birthday when they were teeneagers and wanted to go out! As someone who's best friend is born in january, let me just say I've always been a bit 'oh rubbish, its BF's birthday and we've just had christmas!!'

All my DHs family birthdays are in August - 5 of them! So he wanted us to not try in the October to avoid having another August birthday.

When we were stlll TTC the following year still with no avail no way were we going to miss October when it round again!

Low and behold I conceived circa 30th October and DC1 is due 27/07/12 and as most first babies are late it is highly likely DC will come in August.

Do we care?

Do we bollocks!

Your perspective changes after a while I think.

p.s I'm a christmas baby - 20th - and I LOVE having my birthday then! Everyone is in a good party mood, everyone has just been paid. When I was at school generally term had finished so I dodn't have to go to school on my birthday! - Though I'm sure my friend whose birthday is 25th wouldn't completely agree! :)

Do what's right for you but don't sweat the little stuff, life is too short.

My daughter is a Boxing Day baby and she LOVES that her birthday is the day after Christmas, she gets to see all her family as we are generally together and she will never have to go to school on her birthday. We do parties in Jan - only problem is thinking of enough pressies to go over two days but I think that's a nice problem not a horrible one. Go for it, in my opinion!
Also, just remembered I got a mince pie after the birth from the midwife and got to have boxing day films on in the background whilst labouring - Bugsy Malone, what's not to like...

My DS was due on Christmas Day but ended up a week late and was born 01/01/11. Pretty cool birthday! A great time for a birthday - we'll always be off work to spend time with him and he gets drinks bought for him New Year's Eve when he's older! Grin

My birthday is just before Christmas and my DP's is just after New Year. I love the fact that we all have birthdays near each other. I'm TTC and if I fall pregnant this year I'll be due on Christmas Day this year. And I'd love to get pregnant this month. Baby could end up with DOB of 12/12/12, Christmas Day or New Year's Day. All great times to celebrate! But even if not, I'd still be estatic to find out I was pregant, whenever they were due or turned up!

Do whatever you feel is right, but I definately feel positive about Christmas babies.

this month, not year! Doh!

Do what is right for you. I think it depends on how much of a hurry you are in. I did consider having a month's break in March when we were TTC but just wanted to get on with it and I got pregnant that month. DS was due on 6 December but ended up being a couple of weeks early. If he'd been late he could have been born close to Christmas. It's not great having your birthday around Christmas (though it has its advantages if you grow up to not enjoy birthdays very much, particularly as you get older!) I think April and May would be the ideal months for birthdays, but things don't always go to plan.

My DS was due on 25th Dec but arrived on 20th. It is such a special time of year to have a baby! He's only 4 so we haven't had any complaints from him yet but I take great care that his birthday and Christmas are separate events with different presents and will continue to do so.
