I have dipped in and out of mn for a couple of years now. I absolutely bloody love it. At the moment I'm seeing a lot of threads that are so fucking rude about the users here. Nasty name calling and judgyness aimed at mn regulars....

I really don't get this. The things I love about mn more than anything, are the wide range of opinions you get on here, the individual nature of our forum, and the way in which we usually communicate with each other - swearing and ranting are acceptable, nay, cherished on mn by many. Anybody behaving badly is generally challenged intelligently by the majority, and if you are really bothered there's MNHQ. Gaaaah! Arse off, bastard heads!

It is mothers day innit!

LucyManga · 18/03/2012 10:48

MN has always been a nest of vipers which is why I love it

I have been here since 2003, and periodically people kick up about the 'nastiness'.

WhiteTrash · 18/03/2012 10:48

Arse off you bastard heads?

Im so stealing that!

Morloth · 18/03/2012 10:49

Happens sometimes, this too shall pass.

fedupofnamechanging · 18/03/2012 10:51

It pisses me off too. If people don't like it here, they are free to leave. No one is forcing them to stay here.

On the whole MN is very supportive. I have been here for a few years and the things I have read here, have genuinely made me think about things form other people's perspective. I feel I have learned a lot, and that can only be a good thing.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 18/03/2012 11:20

There are a lot of people who hate mothers in particular and women in general popping up at the minute to tell us what we're doing wrong. What they mean is, the mother of their children did something that they don't like and all women should be castigated, abused, bullied, and generally sneered at forever, because of this. I've been ignoring them all, but there's not a lot else going on I don't think. It's all quite boring and strange lately.

Yes, there are some unpleasant remarks made but I ignore them or don't join the thread. There are some lovely encouraging people out there who help others through experiences that need support or thought or advice.

ladyfirenze · 18/03/2012 11:34

I applaud the ignoring pom.... oh shit I've broken ranks here then.... bugger.

its really cyclical though, isn't it?
like we all launch in and get involved in spats heated debates, call a few names, disagree with each other or agree with someone who is much more articulate. then someone shouts quiche or bitches.
then loads of people agree MN is a bit shit at the moment with all the bitchiness.
then we start threads about all being lovely to each other and support each other, which is why we all love MN.
and repeat.
there is always fighting and name calling and unfortunately trolls on aibu and chat and sometimes relationships but there is lots and lots of support still.

The newbies are revolting....

valiumredhead · 18/03/2012 15:25

Are you only allowed to be arsey and judgemental to the newbies then? Wink

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/03/2012 15:39

Mumsnet is VERY strange ATM!
It's doing my head in a little! There are lots of people here with no sense of humour!

TeaTeaLotsOfTea · 18/03/2012 15:48

I'm confused??

so the regulars are the cream and we're not allowed to say anything to them??? Hmm

I don't agree with the name calling or the judginess of some posts. But I do feel we're allowed to disagree with anybody. Newbies or Oldies.

YABU because you have posted in "Am I Being Unreasonable?" without asking a question that could meaningfully be answered by someone telling you that you are (or are not) being unreasonable.

scottishmummy · 18/03/2012 16:08
