Didn't even get a card here. That's despite reminding DS (11) on about three separate occasions. Feeling alternately miffed with him, and annoyed with myself that it matters.

I wasn't expecting anything, so I don't mind that I've been up and down all night with the baby and have been up since 5.30 with DS and DP is still in bed. No..I don't mind at all...honest.

Rhinos - I agree. Let's do it.

Rhinosaurus · 18/03/2012 10:19

10.15 and still no sign of them, I'm off to take the dog on a long beach walk, coming back and going to pub! At least with teens I can just leave them to fend for themselves sit on sofa wondering where the next pot noodle is coming from, waiting for mum to get back and change the loo roll

Also feeling a tiny bit sorry for myself. Card from school from ds2, they forgot ds1 hadn't made one. Small plant from m & s, but that's my lot!

Made breakfast, washed up, dressed children, done two loads of washing, made beds, now watching football game (mumsnetting on iPhone)...

I had medium sized expectations as it's my first Mothers' day (my son is 4 months old) but my husband is still in bed! DS and I have had fun splashing about in the bath dancing around to radio 2 Grin

nemmynem · 18/03/2012 10:27

iv also had nothing. not even been been wished a happy mothers day. its dh's fault ds is only 4. feeling really sad, dh forgot our anniversary last year, valentines day and now mothers day :(

noyouhavehadawee · 18/03/2012 10:27

oh shall i be smug then ? i got mine delivered in a new shiney i love my mummy mug , mine are still small and thoughtful though so i also got a bracelet made out of pasta and straws then seeing it as an excuse to kick his diet out of touch i then got delivered bacon, tomatoes, black pudding, sausages and egg on toast - really though being an ungrateful hag i just wanted them all to feck off so i could actually have a sleep in. Happy mothers day all Smile

CoffeeDog · 18/03/2012 10:35

Dd 6 th birthday party.... party food in oven Sarnies made and a hall full of 35 5-6 year olds.... with a few todlars in the mix not the best plan

Still the dd made me a nice card and the twins each painted a picture of mummy..... it seems I either look like the gruffallo or a angry Frenchman ;-)

Schnullerbacke · 18/03/2012 10:48

I have no expectations (from 'D'H) so dont get disappointed. DD(5) made me a spiral paper necklace (DH: oh, is it mother's day today?) and also got a card from her. Her first self-written one I hasten to add. She wrote that I am as beautiful as a butterfly so its all good here. Otherwise, just a normal day...

OneHandFlapping · 18/03/2012 10:53

All of you who have been disappointed, I guess you're not going to be making much of an effort on Fathers' Day then?

Dolcegusto · 18/03/2012 10:53

I got some lovely pressies and had a nice day out planned with the dds as dh is working. Unfortunately he's driven off with a car seats so we're stuck here all day. Sad

Morloth · 18/03/2012 10:53

Make a goddamned fuss you lot. They take you for granted because you let them.

In our house 'If Mama Ain't Happy, Ain't Nobody Happy'.

BareBums · 18/03/2012 10:59

Aww Mothers Day is awful, so many mums are unhappy today!
If the school hadn't encouraged DD to make a card nothing would have happened here either but I don't mind.

Halbanoo · 18/03/2012 11:00

Apparently DH feels he's off the hook today b/c he picked up flowers yesterday while out. Claims he's ill today so still in bed at 11am. Made a nice fry up for myself and doing the washing up. DS (4) is refusing to get dressed so is naked upstairs playing with dinos. Just another ordinary day it seems. 4 out of past 5 Mother's Days have been disappointing, so I've given up caring.

ladyfirenze · 18/03/2012 11:01

oh you poor lovelies! I am having the best day. My dts are with their Dad. I am in bed with a (self-made) cuppa talking to you guys.

Machasma · 18/03/2012 11:05

Why do mums make all the effort for everyone else and get nothing in return.....feeling very let down today

Morloth · 18/03/2012 11:22

Because if you don't ask you don't get.

Tell them ahead of time what you want. Yes yes they SHOULD do it automatically. But do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?

Instead of sighing and sucking it up tell the relevant people you are unhappy and why.
