Is this a normal request? And why do they care? Confused

I'll do it if it makes them really happy though Smile

OP posts:
CupOfBrownJoy · 18/03/2012 14:03

lots of teacher-y types on here today Smile

Theunincredibles · 18/03/2012 14:07

Never heard of a jam rag before this thread. Can't say it's a term I will be using
In the future either, but whatever, if you like it keep it.

SoupDragon · 18/03/2012 14:45

"lots of teacher-y types on here today"

Where?

And what is a "teacher-y type" anyway?

MiladyGardenia · 18/03/2012 15:01

I've never heard the phrase 'jam rag' before.

That's what I like about MN. I'm becoming more edumacated every day.

valiumredhead · 18/03/2012 15:31

God almighty there are MUCH worse names on here! Confused

I like it OP, it makes me laugh and i always remember who you are because of it when I read your posts :)

valiumredhead · 18/03/2012 15:32

And why is ok to have the word 'cunt' in thread titles but not 'jam rag; - seriously? Confused

Whatmeworry · 18/03/2012 15:33

And why is ok to have the word 'cunt' in thread titles but not 'jam rag

Jam rag is fine, but roly poly? I mean, really

JustHecate · 18/03/2012 15:36

I object to the linking of a fab pud with periods.

mmm. jam roly poly.

erm.

Not now, thanks. Grin

I'm put off for life.

I think I might sue.

flatbellyfella · 18/03/2012 15:45

Keep it! First time I heard the expression was forty years ago and it was deployed by a smutty and spotty thirteen-year old boy. I was rather taken aback at the time, but hearing it so many times over the years has reduced its Shock value for me.

Tell MNHQ it's a political act - you are stealing the expression out of the mouths of smutty schoolboys of all ages and claiming it for women.

We'll all be having to call ourselves 'prettyinpink' or 'earthmother' or 'soccermom' at this rate.

lifesalongsong · 18/03/2012 15:53

I haven't noticed you before and if you hadn't started this thead I wouldn't have thought twice about your name (sheltered life like some above). Its be no means the worst I've seen.

ZuzuBailey · 18/03/2012 16:07

I don't like your name but I'm sure that won't bother you.

I wouldn't complain about it but obviously someone was offended by it.

JamSpongeRolyPoly is much better imho - I can pretend it's just about food.

youarekidding · 18/03/2012 16:08

PMSL @ valium especially ^ontheblobblamange^ - that pure genius Grin

jam your name didn't offend me as didn't get it - doesn't offend me now either TBH but love the jamspongerolypoly idea.

bibbityisaporker · 18/03/2012 16:08

I am intrigued that people find your name amusing rather than crude and yucky.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/03/2012 16:10

I read that as on the blobbla mange.

valiumredhead · 18/03/2012 16:10

I do not find periods crude or yucky, maybe that's why.

CupOfBrownJoy · 18/03/2012 16:11

...... that's what I mean by "teacher-y" - a bit cat's bum mouth....

bibbityisaporker · 18/03/2012 16:14

I don't find periods crude or yucky, what silly thing to say.

I find jam rag (school boy slang for used sanitary towel) associated with something supposedly delicious to eat, crude and yucky.

I understand that people aren't offended ... I don't get the amusement factor at all though.

[cats bum and proud]

TheFallenMadonna · 18/03/2012 16:17

I am a teacher in fact...

Yes to schoolboy humour. Find it bizarre that people seem to find it amusing.

I'm still going with trying too hard...

valiumredhead · 18/03/2012 16:18

what silly thing to say.

I think that's cupofbrownjoy's point well made Wink
