It's not my mothers day today as have MIL and GMIL and assorted family coming for lunch and I've been up since 6.30 am preparing the food with everyone else still in bed Hmm

QuickQuickSloe · 18/03/2012 07:32

Thankyou and happy mother's day to you too Smile

Wretched · 18/03/2012 07:34

Morning. Dd2 has given me the most long awaited mothers day gift. A four day overdue poo. She is 10 weeks old!

Can I just say a happy mothers day to everyone, like others I am hosting dh's mum and gran today for lunch so will not be being spoiled myself, but looking forward to it anyway.

And a very happ mothers day to my darling mum, five years since she passed and miss her like mad, sooooo wish she could come and cuddle dd2 xxxx

Petrean · 18/03/2012 07:37

We are all off to surprise my Mum with a family lunch. Me and my DH, DB and DSIL and all of our children. Probably will end up quite stressful but I'm looking forward all the same.

DS made me a lovely flower card and plant pot are nursery and with the help of DH bought me flowers. Grin. Very happy!

Happy Mother's day everyone! Grin

Thank's Frothy! You are the first - Dd and Ds are too little to remember, and DH has claimed the lie in as DD was ill last night and he was up with her. He has forgotten it's mothers day. Never mind he'll remember soon and he's a good dad Smile

WitchOfEndor · 18/03/2012 07:48

Mine hasn't started too badly -DS gave us a lie-in as he slept through till 6:50. I got a big box of Thorntons (in a Baby Boy gift bag!) and a card from DH DS. I've eaten about ten and tried to forget I have a stone to lose and I've just got the dog on the bed for a snuggle and he has just dropped a rank vegetably fart. So, all good then!

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 18/03/2012 07:48

A stinky nappy at 6:30 great start to the day :o happy mothers day to you too op

FrothyDragon · 18/03/2012 07:58

Haha, AuntLucy, DS is too young to remember, although I got a lovely handmade card, teabag and laminated hand print from his nursery. Grin Handprint is now adorning the fireplace.

Dp went to work an hour ago saying he doesn't know when hell be back but it'll be after two. He has however got dd something to give me including chocolates (getting married in nine weeks and need wedding dress to fit ) . I'm going to spend the day with dd and my lovely dad (mum died 14 years ago) so he does all the girly things like shopping with me ! Happy mothers day everyone .

Oh Alors! Big big hug. Its so heart breaking when your parents are very poorly. My lovely mum died a few years ago after a long illness (on Mothers Day! Very inconsiderate!)so even though DCs and DH have been great today - they brought me porridge with "dust" (flaxseed) on - Mothers day is always bittersweet.
And pesky MIL has been here judging my gluten-free cheffing. Chef it yourself love, and maybe I'll have a sitdown.. was on the tip of my tongue...

DartsAgain · 18/03/2012 18:02

Happy Mothers' Day to you, and best wishes to those who have lost their mums or whose mums are ill. I've sent a message to my cousin as it's her first without her mum Sad

But I got breakfast from the children (well, a Brew and toasted fruit loaf), flowers, a hand made card, and a decorated plaster heart that DS made at Cubs. And lots of appreciative hugs from DP. He seemed quite proud of the children for thinking of breakfast and making it for me.. Grin

catgirl1976 · 18/03/2012 18:03

Thank you :)

Hope your day gets better and your DC gets better soon too!

bossboggle · 18/03/2012 18:31

Yep best wishes to all of those spending their first without their mums - it is hard!! It is the double edged sword, you have your own family but there is always something missing. Hope you have all had a good day in your own ways!! Thanks.

PatTheHammer · 18/03/2012 19:51

I would also like to send a Thanks and a hug to all those who have lost their mums or for whom mother's day is a hard day for whatever reason.

Rather selfishly I have never really considered it before but today when I phoned my own mum she was quite upset as she had lost her best friend yesterday after a long battle with cancer. Mum's friend was a lovely lady and good friend of the family for about 35 years so we will all miss her and she leaves a DD and DS who are a early thirties.

I really feel for them today and will think of them each mothers day now. So glad I still have my mum.

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers! Hope your child gets better very soon, FrothyDragon, and that you get to have a wonderful belated celebration when the chicken pox is all gone!
