Seems like with all these cuts the govt are deliberately trying to keep the working class down?

Glad it's not just me that thought that when looking at the link to PCS Shelly.

scarborough84 · 18/03/2012 17:20

I thought bill was alot too. However, it was there in black and white. Maybe her property isn't very fuel efficient.

dreamingofsun · 18/03/2012 17:21

juliascurr - having lots of children and not working is fine if someone is working in the household. yes it might be exhausting, but i'm not sure you can classify it as 'valuable work' if the parent just does it to get out of paid employment. you make it sound like they are breeding lots of future valuable citizens.

i have never looked after my children full-time - could never afford to, so had to pay someone else to do it - but would like to think my children will pay their taxes to enable old people and the disabled to be looked after

Mrbojangles1 · 18/03/2012 17:21

JuliaScurr who would pay the dole to these people if everyone decided to stay home and look after their kids hmm

Morebiscuitsplease the mansion tax is silly what about people who are asset rich but cash poor my cousin inherited my NAND home worth 900.506 He works in pizza hut and his girlfriend is a cleaner nad before any one says sell it my nan bless her stipulated that he could only have it if he live their and on it being sold its to be split between all the grand children their are 16 of us their would be no money left

Many people have big old drafty homes left to them by aunts ECt but actally don't have any money themselves that's why we have squatters because people have homes they can't do a thing with

Angelico · 18/03/2012 17:23

As others have said, everyone is getting shafted except the mega wealthy. The one that really pisses me off is the child benefit stuff, having paid CB all my life for other people I will now not get it myself (pregnant) even if I give up work just because my DH is over cut off. Yet other people I know will have twice our income and still get it because they can fiddle the books / earn just under higher rate band. Total fucking joke.

Hecubasdaughter · 18/03/2012 17:23

I can't child mind as my tenancy agreement forbids running a business from the flat. I've been applying for lots of different jobs. Professional jobs, shop assistant, admin, cleaning yet nothing, only one reply which was a rejection. So I get annoyed when people say 'just get a job' or 'it's easy to get a job. DH has managed to get more replies than me but all rejections.

We both now have loads of different CVs each highlighting different parts of our experience so feel offended when people suggest that those who are unemployed must not be trying.

Mrbojangles1 · 18/03/2012 17:24

Dreamtotrue

The more you think about it,it's actally very low of a parent to use her child as a way of getting of
of paid employment

Well those days are over now cap un all ( which I still think is set far to high)

dreamingofsun · 18/03/2012 17:26

herbub - i think that the trouble is we tend to paint everyone with the same brush. i have relatives on my husbands side who aren't disabled yet claim disability benefit, i also have relations who apply for jobs they are totally unsuited to and then wonder why they don't get them. people who won't travel for more than 10 mins..... the list goes on. this gives unemployed and the disabled a bad name, and is bad for the people who truly do try and have problems.

Heswall · 18/03/2012 17:28

Can't childmind because the tenancy forbids it ? So you'd rather starve, honestly what is the matter with people you'd rather be good little drones and play by the rules than sort out your lives and take control ? Sometimes you have to bend the rules, who seriously would find out/give a toss what you do in your home proving it's legal and doesn't bother anyone else ?

Mrbojangles1 · 18/03/2012 17:28

Hecubasdaughter have you actally checked or are you just assuming my tenancy is the same but when I rung the council they said childminding is exempt.

Also have you tried Adverstising as a nanny from somone else's home.

ChickenLickn · 18/03/2012 17:30

"'I think hell?s a fable.' 'Ay,' says Mephistopheles, 'think so still, till experience change thy mind.'"

Mrbojangles1 · 18/03/2012 17:31

Or oh could do some charity work so a least his cv is full for when he finds paid work

NowThenWreck · 18/03/2012 17:32

Heswall, that is probably the stupidest thing I have ever read on here.

If you do something in your rented home which is explicitly forbidden in your tenancy agreement you can be evicted.
So, yes, good little drones who prefer not to be homeless have to play by the rules and obey the law.
If someone on here said that they were doing something illegal to make money, I am sure you would be first in the queue to tell them they were irresponsible and immoral.
Jesus.

Hecubasdaughter · 18/03/2012 17:32

Why can't people see that these people are actually in the minority. The prejudice makes finding a job even harder, there are employers out there who won't even read an application if the person is unemployed. Not good for the employer either, they could be missing out on a highly skilled employee who has been unemployed for a matter of weeks.

ShellyBoobs · 18/03/2012 17:33

I find the idea that a person can have a lot of children and be considered to be 'not working' hilarious. Caring for children is exhausting and very valuable work. If nobody did it, there would be nobody to carefor you when you are old or disabled.

So people have children for totally altruistic reasons?

THAT is hilarious.

You have children because you want to have them. Not out of a duty to the country.

Of course you can have a lot of children and be considered to be not working. If you're not in employment, you're not working. It's quite simple.

You can't seriously expect people to congratulate you on having 'a lot of children' and consider that to be an employment choice.

Avenged · 18/03/2012 17:35

Can you write to your MP about your circumstances and ask them for their help Hecubas? Your circumstances have changed dramatically and if you've only got £100 to buy uniform, food and pay prescription fees out of that, then you should be entitled to more. Mention your circumstances to your MP, mention the situation with HMRC and CTC and see what they can help you with.

In this day and age, no one should have to choose between their health or children's school uniform.

Hecubasdaughter · 18/03/2012 17:36

What nowthen says getting evicted for breech of tenancy helps noone. I seem to remember you suggesting I commit benefit fraud heswall and I told you then not a chance. Continuing to apply for jobs is not lying down btw.

dreamingofsun · 18/03/2012 17:36

hecub - which people are in the minority? My DH has been unemployed a few times and this has never caused him issues. as long as you have a good CV i think its accepted now you can be unemployed occasionally - main thing is that you don't look like a potentially bad employee on your CV

Mrbojangles1 · 18/03/2012 17:36

Shellybobs under labour it was just that lol

Heswall · 18/03/2012 17:37

NTW Who the fuck would care if she ran a business from her home ? I started mine up from home and within 12 months was profitable enough to justify business premises. Just don't grow weed or open a crack den and I'm sure it would be absolutely fine.

NowThenWreck · 18/03/2012 17:37

I think there are many people in this country who clearly have no idea what it is like to be really struggling. When 50% of your income goes on rent (before any bills, council tax, insurance etc) then you are most definite fucking poor.
My rent is 3 weeks late right now because I had to pay a £380 energy bill from the winter (even though I turned the heat off as soon as ds went to bed and sat wrapped in a duvet every night).

My income has gone down by £50 a month, even as the cost of living is soaring, and I can't afford my flat, nor do I have the £900 I would need to move somewhere cheaper.
When every penny is accounted for, one big bill, or emergency, or needing school shoes can knock you right back under water.
I am actually worried about getting to work this week, because I am not sure I can scrape together the £20 I need for bus fare.

OP YANBU-this government has a very clear ideology of helping the rich, and making life much harder for the poor.

Mrbojangles1 · 18/03/2012 17:39

Btw I would suggest a bike and you can get shoes for £3 form eBay

off course they are keeping the poor down.
And then they will engineer another war (somewhere) to keep the unemployment figures down.

dreamingofsun · 18/03/2012 17:40

nowthen - it may be helping the rich, but its frankly not doing much for us in the middle. labour shafted us big time and the lib dems are if anything worse.
