to be very happy with my new COUNCIL FLAT?

I actually am and I can't quite believe it! It is a pita to bring shopping up the 2 flights of stairs but that is something we will get used to. I keep forgetting when I nip to the supermarket with toddler DC4, to only pick up a few things and end up with 5 bags of stuff and then I remember I have to get up the stairs with him and them!!

Apart from that, the flat is easy to keep clean (all on one level), we have 2 brand new balconies big enough to sit out on and grow some stuff on. The whole block's exterior has also been painted. We have a shared garden which the other 2 flats don't use so they have said they are fine with our trampoline being put up. The neighbours seem quiet, only hear them close their doors really. There are always spaces right outside the entrance door for our 2 cars and it is bloody cheap - £378 per month! We have not seem the benefit of that this month as we had to buy quite a bit of stuff - new cooker, curtains and rugs which came to over £600 but from next month we should be much better off. The area is actually a more 'sought after' part of town so we have been told and is much greener and there is a park/cycle track right next door, much better than the area we were living in and paying £900 for a mouldy house in.

I have also discovered that we are walking distance from the train station (about 15 mins) so I can return to work in London when I find a job and childcare and feeling positive about that) without having to pay out extra for petrol to station and car park fees which are extortionate here.

Oh we were also given a free paint pack from the council, could choose our colour scheme and it included enough for the whole place (3 beds) even down to gloss for skirting boards, masking tape and dust sheet. Over £200 pounds worth. There was laminate down already throughout the whole flat so the only flooring we had to put down was in the loo and bathroom.

I cannot believe that I feel rather happy and secure here. DCs are fine with it and it's closer to their schools. Total transformation in my way of thinking because I was terrified before we actually moved in. It actually sort of feels like we are in a holiday apartment. AIBU to extremely grateful to my local council who I had thought were fucking bastards!?

We have no evidence to think this, or any of the OP's other threads, were wind-ups.

Posters have been deleted for various degrees of troll-hunting. However dubious you think an OP is, you're likely to get deleted if suspicion-laden posts are reported to us.

Thanks

I wish I could remember what I said.
I don't believe I called the OP a troll,

A fantasist maybe
A wind up merchant.. Possibly

But a troll...nah

Thingiebob · 19/03/2012 05:36

So all that moaning about your council flat and the reality isn't that ghastly!

Glad everything has turned out ok OP.

TheHumancatapult · 19/03/2012 06:13

If not a wind up surley by now if you have a council or h/a place you learn on mm you keep it quiet . iblearnt ghat after getting my arse flamed . Though to be fair once someone knew why they apologised

I suspect this is more a dig at those in council places etc that how unfair it is that we have them and that they think we get a free ride

TheHumancatapult · 19/03/2012 06:13

Learnt that *

TheHumancatapult · 19/03/2012 06:23

Btw op if not a wind up be aware that the council can demand you move the trampoline from the shared garden . I suspect if you check your tennacy agreement there be rules about what can do leave in a shared garden

Also if someone moves out the other flats new people go in same again .

Oh and op if this is a wind up that we have it easy in council places etc etc , well your hate me because my house was built specifically for me Grin

SunflowersSmile · 19/03/2012 06:43

I am late to this thread but feel the op must be VERY bored to keep posting about the same issues. Bored and lucky and keen that we all know how lucky she is.

Everlong

That makes me think it is infact a wind up and the other details that op has been posted

If it's not wind up and that money is before bills one thing and I wish op well if that's after bills then I'd be very suprised as here your not even get on the list with income if that level , your be pushed back to private
