I want recognition on Mothers' Day - what do you want on Mothers' Day?

I was forgotten one year and so I stopped hinting and hoping and told them exactly what was expected and it seemed to work.
I'm wondering what you want on Mothers' Day?

Ah, a maid/cook/cleaner/rich husband/island in the sun...

LOL

I´ll settle for me and my son´s health, all good on that front! Praise da Lawd!!

LineRunner · 15/03/2012 00:59

The Father Ted boxset.

WorraLiberty · 15/03/2012 01:04

I know what I'll get and that'll be breakfast in bed from my 2 youngest DS's....even though I simply can't eat breakfast.

I'll do the usual thing and hide it in the bedside cabinet while DH distracts them Grin and then bring the empty plate downstairs...praising the undercooked egg and the burnt toast to the hilt! Grin

DH will do the big Sunday roast and won't let me interfere help in the kitchen...though he does that most Sunday's anyway.

I never actually want anything from Mother's Day because I expect to be appreciated all year round...just like I appreciate my family.

If that only happened on one certain day in the year, I'd consider it totally fake IYSWIM.

By the way, I've just clicked that link and I'm sorry but it sounds ever so demanding.

What's the point in telling people what to do and how to show appreciation? Surely it should come from the heart...not from an instruction or demand? Confused

aldiwhore · 15/03/2012 01:14

I want to remember my mum's card too.... I want my kids to grow up to want to remember theirs Smile

Don't actually want much else, though a bunch of daffodils would be nice.

Obviously until my children are old enough to be expected to care about forward planning the card issue lies with DH... I won't expect cards through their teens years because teens can be shit at that sort of thing (I was) but I'd like to think in 30 year's time, my children will worry about getting a card in the post.

aldiwhore · 15/03/2012 01:16

Other than that agree with Worra... apart from the whole breakfast in bad thing... I'm no clean freak (quite the opposite) but the thought of crumbs in bed makes my toes curl... plus they'd want to eat it with me. uh uh. Just give me a lie in!

WorraLiberty · 15/03/2012 01:19

Oh Aldi you're going to puke at this post if you're a clean freak....

A couple of years ago I placed the egg and toast in my bedside cabinet and brought the empty plate downstairs...pretending I'd eaten it all.

Then a couple of days later, I couldn't understand why the bedroom smelled so bad and why the dog would sit staring intently at the cabinet for hours on end Grin

I won't even tell you what was growing in there by the time I realised what I'd forgotten.....

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 15/03/2012 02:04

I feel appreciated most of the time but an excuse for flowers, a lie in and a card is alright by me (especially as I LOVE flowers and never get them).

I always remember to send my mum flowers and a card, when we were little we'd do breakfast in bed for her

DH rarely remembers to do anything though Sad

Wretched · 15/03/2012 04:53

Well. I'm cooking Sunday lunch for the inlaws on mothers day Hmm there's a thread somewhere. My own fault of course.

But I've told DH what I most want is chocolate and lots of it. Since having dd2 nine weeks ago I just cannot stop eating chocolate, must be the non stop breastfeeding. I think about chocolate all the time. I can't pass it in shops. And I have worked my way through all the leftover Christmas chocs already and they usually last until at least June Blush

Mondayschild78 · 15/03/2012 05:17

Sleep!!

KatOD · 15/03/2012 05:23

Yep, second the call for sleep!!

According to DH my 4mo DD has bought me a Mother's day present but has put it somewhere "safe" in the house and can't find it!?!

HappyAsEyeAm · 15/03/2012 05:40

A massage. I have told DH and it is booked for Saturday. Can't wait.

iscream · 15/03/2012 06:39

Flowers, but I never get the for MD. I will get dinner made by ds1 and watch a couple of chick flicks. And cards. Dh will; be at work. It isn't MD here until may though.

iscream · 15/03/2012 06:39

Sorry for the typo's.

PinkPeanuts · 15/03/2012 07:00

My baby to be born- I'm 39+3, it would be lovely to be a mum on mothers day :)

Kayzr · 15/03/2012 07:02

Sleep would be nice but as DP is away its just another normal Sunday here

LalasMama · 15/03/2012 07:13

It is my 21st the day before mothers day Grin I'm having a party on Saturday night so the best thing my DC could give me for mothers day is peace and quiet to nurse my hangover Smile

mumblechum1 · 15/03/2012 07:34

That link is truly vomitous.

I'd just like a card. And for this year, ds not to eat my Thorntons toffee before MD.

I'm never going to let that one go Grin

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2012 07:36

I have asked for no bickering and fighting from the DSs. Grin

ColourMeWithChaos · 15/03/2012 07:36

A hug from DS1.

He has been "too old for hugs" for a few years now :(.

Not sure what I'll be getting. Im working all day so will be out of the house from 5.30am until 7.30pm so not much chance of anything. Sad

nothappybunny457 · 15/03/2012 07:41

an actual present. I think with a teenager and theother one in double figures as well as a nine year old, they can pool some money together and buy me a charm or something for my bracelet. I love the homemade cards etc, but, ive got fifteen years worth of them, and just want a silver trinket hallmarked with appropriate silvery stuff on it now.

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2012 07:41

Oh DressDown you will miss out on being squished into a packed restaurant with lots of other Mothers eating food you can get any other day much cheaper. Sad
