I want recognition on Mothers' Day - what do you want on Mothers' Day?

I was forgotten one year and so I stopped hinting and hoping and told them exactly what was expected and it seemed to work.
I'm wondering what you want on Mothers' Day?

I'll send positive vibes on Sunday SeeingDouble when I have to listen to tedious stories for the nth time.

Chocolate and a stress free lunch when we go out with the dcs (2 and 4 months), my sister and my parents.

a quiet day pootling about doing my own thing! DD is with her dad that day as it is his one of the rare times he is bothering to ask to see her contact day. So, once I've had my morning cuddles with her and sent her on her way...I shall enjoy NOT being a mummy for a few hours. I have pretty much every day of the year with her telling me she loves me so I'm good with not having her around for the day. :)

WitchOfEndor · 16/03/2012 13:51

I just want a lie in but I don't think DS will oblige!

TheRealMrsHannigan · 16/03/2012 14:15

I know I have got the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1 & 2 dvd's, will probably be some flowers too, very happy with that :)

My mum is coming over for lunch along with my brother and sister so it will just be a chilled family day.

vezzie · 16/03/2012 14:21

I have been all teary (in a good way) because a card has arrived addressed to "dd1's mum" and has "NOT TO BE OPENED TILL SUNDAY" on the back and the penny has dropped that this might be the letter that dd1 said her preschool class posted as an activity 2 days ago. I can't believe how thoughtful that is, they are lovely at dd1's pre-school. It's made me all wobbly (bawl, sob)

thebody · 16/03/2012 15:24

Nothing! 3 older Dcs coming home for weekend so fridge full of food and beer!! Dd 12 alive and well, I love my kids and they love me! What more do I want? Nothing!!!!

Molehillmountain · 16/03/2012 18:49

Hoping that won't be necessary solo Smile

Meglet · 16/03/2012 20:35

sleep. which I won't get.

TheArmadillo · 16/03/2012 21:12

I want a homemade card - ds specialises in long messages in his cards which are somewhat creepy and threatening. He is 7 and genuinely means them to be nice, it is highly amusing.

I don't want a present however I would like unrestrained adulation all every day. I will cook my own dinner as I would prefer the food to be edible and will shoot anyone who threatens to bring me breakfast in bed (incrediably unlikely).

A lie in will also be demanded nice.

I am cooking MIL lunch - I like her and she will keep the kids entertained and out of my hair and we saw great grandparents today and gave cards so I am not ignoring them all.

asiatic · 16/03/2012 21:32

I always insist my children ignore mothers day. I hate it.

MadameChinLegs · 16/03/2012 21:36

I want a lie in. Guilt free. Don't worry, DH doesnt make me feel guilty, I do. I shall be having a stern word with myself before Sunday.

I'd also like a bunch of tulips as they are my favourite flower and really not in season very long.

MadameChinLegs · 16/03/2012 21:37

Ooooh, MrsHannigan, you should start at Philosophers Stone and have a marathon ending in those two. That would be my perfect day.

DoNotAngerTheWookiee · 16/03/2012 21:49

I have my first homemade Mother's Day card from DS1 which he (or rather the pre-school staff) made, with a lovely flower brooch made from felt.

I may have already badgered so persistently for the Game Of Thrones Boxset that DH gave it to me early....I may also have watched it all Blush.

My mum and dad live very, very close to us so we're having a little breakfast/brunch. I am very excited about this as I have gotten my mum a kick-ass present that I know she'll love.

DH and the DCs are going to his dad and step mother's for lunch as he had forgotten that this Sunday was Mother's Day, so I shall be doing my essay that I should have nearly finished by now but I think my mum and I are going to have curry for lunch.

OrmIrian · 17/03/2012 19:36

So far MD has resulted in me buying a huge joint of lamb, some new potatoes, 2 bottles of fizzy pinot and a huge chocolate gateaux, two MD cards and some potted plants. I am 'doing' MD here, mum, dad and MIL are coming. It will be fun but I won't be 'spoilt' that's for sure Grin

happydotcom · 17/03/2012 19:38

Just one night of unbroken sleep.................

Pagwatch · 17/03/2012 19:41

Dh is away . Dd is promising treats. I am a bit nervous to be honest. She keeps disappearing with colouring pens, paper a Sellotape. She is making me something. I am hoping it isn't a hat.

Kayzr · 17/03/2012 19:45

I have got a card each from the boys. They made them at school and playschool. DS2 got me a flower plant thing with a pot he decorated, also made at playschool.

DP has promised me a late Mother's Day next week when he's home from work.

But I get to go to my Mums tomorrow and laugh at my brother and the boys cook. Apparently it will be spag bol from a jar. Grin

Lozislovely · 17/03/2012 20:38

Well I envy those of you getting something. DS x2 have done bugger all. Apparently that is DH fault, even though they are both teenagers and capable of walking to the local shop for a card!!

Didn't think I cared that much for mothers day, but now I know I don't have anything I am pretty pissed off!!!

Well if I should choose to lie in all day then I will - though I know I won't given there's a large pile of ironing to do and bedding to wash.

Ah well!!!!!
